I had better be something awesome for me to pay money to play it. I think the last fighting game I bought was Super Smash Brothers Brawl. If MK9 isn't as good as SSBB I won't spend money on it. Really that is the stance I take on any fighting game.

I could never pull off fatalities, so that's not a concern with me.

Yeah I had read this, it's only for PS3 as it says. I am excited for the reboot. Modern fighter games, as far as I've played them, always felt too clunky for me. Which is why people probably like SSMB. The X-ray vision thing in the game seems kind of gimmicky but the return to 2D has me waiting in anticipation.

It's a minor concern but the achievements for MKvDC were really dumb, mostly all the combo stuff.

Mortal Kombat is the only fighter I've played that seems clunky. Tekken and Soul Calibur flow quite nicely.

I don't know if lag can be helped. Isn't it dependent upon the users' connection?

There's different ways to go about the lag issues. Some let users connect to each other, but that risks one player lagging it up badly (or causing lag, basically cheating). Others have players go through servers the company has, which would generally be stable but there might always be a bit of lag. Well. It's all really variable. I'm not an expert on it.
