Music - themed Art
Challenge Yourself is an Official Snafu Art forum contest. It operates on a bi-weekly cycle, as explained below. The prize is respect, and having your image preserved for prosperity in the 'hall of win'. As the title suggests, the idea is not to best each other, but to best yourself![/center]
THEME
This week's theme is
Music Themed Art. This is the theme that was voted in during the last challenge. Take anything about music, whether it's your favourite band, an instrument, people singing, or how a song makes you feel, and make art about it.
RULES
- Only visual art allowed. Art must conform with the Snafu Art forum rules.
- Art must be created WITHIN the cycle time. You MAY NOT use art you created last week, last month, last year, or ever before this cycle. These pieces may be posted as demonstration of the theme, but MUST be marked as previous work.
- Multiple submissions totally allowed.
- Submissions must be related to music in some way. This is fairly open to interpretation, but it shouldn't be too hard for people to see how it is related.
*Rules are subject to change within three days for items I may have forgotten.
Judging
Submissions will be judged by ME (spikecomix). In the event of my absence, I will appoint a guest judge. The criteria for judging are: CREATIVITY, EXECUTION (skill), and EFFORT. Please note that you are judged against YOURSELF (your previous demonstrated works) and not so much against each other!! In this contest, a new artist who puts in a tremendous amount of creativity and effort can defeat an experienced artist who has more skill and experience, but didn't push themselves.
Judges may enter pieces into the contest, but they will be exhibition only. Any person may also mark their own submission as 'exhibition' and it will not be judged.
The Process
Challenges operate on a two week cycle. The contest officially begins on MONDAY.
MONDAY: Contest begins, submissions accepted. Submissions will be accepted until the FRIDAY after next (almost 2 weeks later). (Start: Monday, Sept 04)
FRIDAY after next: Winners will be announced, no more submissions accepted (but may be posted just as exhibition). SUGGESTIONS for the next Challenge begins. I reserve the right to reject challenge suggestions based on vague-ness, being too similar to a recent challenge, or unfeasibility. ONE SUGGESTION PER MEMBER. You may change or withdraw your suggestion ONLY before the poll begins. (
Submission end: Friday, Sept 15, 2006!!)
SATURDAY: A poll will be put up in the same thread with the suggestions. Voting begins. Suggestions will no longer be accepted once I start to create the poll. (Saturday, Sept 16)
SUNDAY: The poll will close, and the winning suggestion becomes the next challenge. In the event of a tie, I will cast the tie-breaking vote (I will not vote in the poll except in this event.) (Sunday, Sept 17)

As long as the art was created within the two week cycle, it doesn't really matter where else you put it up.
