Alexander: homoerotic men in short skirts.

Postby Larue » Thu Dec 02, 2004 4:31 am

If any of you are even thinking of going to the movie Alexander, I would advise against it. That movie is so homoerotic and long. They stole three hours of my life and filled them with thoughts of nasty men doing it and suicide. I dont have anything against homosexuals, I just didnt expect this movie to be like that. I guess I need to brush up on my history. It was pretty boring. I would like to give it up to Colin Farell though. Just a thought! Grrrrrr!

sorry about the Colin Farell comments

Oddly enough I did a paper on this and it was considered an honor for a young boy to be molested by an old man. The older and dirtier the better.

And Cole I can't believe your useing a Nietzsche quote. I hate nietzschiean ethics. He's such a choad all he does is put a spin on the way things are he doesn't actually come up with a new theory. He says there are people in charge and they have certain characteristics and there are people who arn't in charge and they have certain characteristics. He just uses double speak and strong words to state this but it's all a smoke screen. But I supose we could save a Nietzsche debate for another time. But oh yes it will come.

Yeah, I heard the movie was terrible. Shame, too. And I heard Colin Ferrel was awful.

And Nietzsche was a Nazi.

Oh god, long live Captain N! (Where's my Zapper?) w00t

And well, indeed. There are some things that MAY have to be expected from movies like that one. I'm still going to watch it and I hope it fills up my expectations. =3

Alexander's history has always cautivated me. Let's see how accurate the movie is (like any movie has been... xD).
When people say you've changed... it's because you stopped living your life their way.

I'm not a huge fan of Nietzsche but I do like his essays. it's kinda like how I liked the movie jeffrey but I'm not gay. Actually, I mostly watched it because patrick stewart was in it.

Added after 28 minutes:

Nietzsche felt that the religion of the ancient Greeks of the heroic and classical era was superior to Christianity because it portrayed strong, heroic, smart, and muscular men as role models and did not try to demonize healthy natural desires, such as creativity and writing poetry.

Added after 39 seconds:

Nietzsche's sister Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche's heavily edited Nietzsche's work in order to promote him as a proto-Nazi thinker (she was herself an ardent German nationalist and pro-Nazi); this bastardization was largely to blame for Nietzsche being associated in the 1930s with the Nazis, who primarily took Elisabeth's deliberately misconstrued versions of his works as their source.

It is worth noting that Nietzsche's thought largely stands opposed to Nazism.

Dont tell me... in that movie Alex and that bud of his....ew, theres no PROOF that he was gay... though i wouldnt be surpised if he was bisexual =

We just got done with Alexander the Great in my History class, and my teacher recorded that documentary on him that was on the History channel. I hear the actor for Alex in the movie NOWAY resembles what he probly did, and the one on the History channel is a pretty good guess. Oh well, thats Hollywood for ya, they never do anything right.

Well, they didn't have a term for it back then. But I'm sure he had just as much interest as women. It was pretty common back then.

Cole:
I had no idea that Nietzche's sister edited all of his works. A lot of things make sense now.

Figured you didn't. I don't admire Nazis. ok, I do admire Hitler for being able to do what he did. I don't admire him as a human being though, just as a political force.

Well, just as long as you acknowledge that Hitler didn't get there all on his own. He had...well, it was pretty much a friggin high society cult behind him.

I never said Nietzsche was a Nazi, his sister was but he wasn't. I'm just saying that people give him too much credit.

he was definitely passing on his 'essence.'

I have nothing against homosexuals. I have many friends that are gay. I also knew that Alexander the Great may have been bisexual. I was just giving all of you my opinion on the movie. I guess I didnt expect the movie to show that much of that side of his life. I also knew that being homosexual and bisexual was totally common during that time. So back off! I'm not trite you ass wipe!
