The footage for MMPR series one was taken from Kyoryu Sentai Zyu Ranger which screened in Japan in 1992, and the original Super Sentai show screened in 1975. But Bobs right.

You can't just say there was "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" for 3 seasons. It was original, then "Thunder", then "Ninja". When the alien wate people came, I stopped watching. Only so many cast changes a kid as young as I was can take.

But it was three seasons of MMPR. They took footage from three different series of Super Sentai, which changes from year to year, but the producers were scared of losing audiences by changing the ranger powers, so they had the Power Rangers get new Zords. But, it became difficult to cut the footage from Zyuranger to make it look like they fighting villains from Dairanger and Kakuranger, so they drew up the story of the Alien Rangers, who were actually the Kakurangers. After that, they decided that the Ranger powers would change, but that it would all follow the same story line, which they made work for three more seasons. But since each series of Super Sentai is unconnected (apart from occasional crossover specials), this proved difficult as well. So, at the end of Power Rangers in Space, the Power Rangers story finished after six seasons. But Power Rangers continued, but each exists in and of it's own right (apart from occaisonal crossover specials)
