You don't *have* to be in McDonald's to use wifi, it's just another option in case you don't have a hotspot set up in your house. Otherwise, you mostly should be able to get away with just using a wireless router. I've got D-link for now, the worst of the worst, and it still works with AC.

As for router, Linksys should work pretty well, no? I could lend you one of our old ones, it should still work though.

The only thing is we lost the disc to modify it so you'll have to live with unencrypted Wireless. XD
But aside from that, the next best thing would be to do it locally. Which leads to a question, around when would be the next chuck of days you'd be free on? I don't think I'd be able to pull it off spontaneously :P
