Anyone here does/has ever done screen printing?

Postby Mir@k » Thu Nov 07, 2013 8:52 pm

In the special case that someone does, anybody knows for how long i should expose the frame if i only have two fluorescent 30w lightbulbs? I don't have the money to get a 500w reflector atm so i kinda have to make do with what i have.

I'm currently exposing it for 20 minutes to see if it turns out okay but i know i'm doing leaps of faith here.
If anyone knows i'll be grateful.

Nevermind i got it! C:

My first leap of faith gave birth to progress!
For anyone interested, 20 minutes in exposure while placing both lightbulbs as close to the screen as possible does the trick.

Wow i feel great.

We were assigned to make a poster using 4 different kinds of ink.

I'm incredibly exhausted. I only have a single screen, so the process of developing the screen, printing with one ink, then using chemicals to wipe off the ink, then other chemicals to wipe the emulsion, then developing another part of the poster, then printing again, then washing everything again, it's so much work that it's hardly worth it.

If i was making things for pleasure it would be a different story, but eh, it's homework.
When i want to do my own stuff i do mugs and shirts in one or two inks, more inks are unnecesary most of the time but my teacher is an iiiiiiiiiidiot.

Also not to sound like a faggot but i take VERY good care of my skin, so looking and feeling my crumpled, wrinkly and dried up mummy-like hands after using so many harmful chemicals is very very very distressing to me. Also i end up smelling like P-400 (ink-cleaner chemical).

Still, i feel pretty good. Today was an exhausting day yes, but it was filled with progress in all areas of my being.
