Laudine's drawings

Postby Laudine » Wed Aug 07, 2013 12:49 am

Hello! I'm new to the forums.

Since I have a tendency to create random doodles at times, I thought why not start an art thread? xD;

Firstly, here is a contest entry I did for Snafu art contest.

Image

The title of that one is "Last Glimpse of Summer"
For this piece I wanted to focus more on the nature. I wanted to do a somewhat moody image, that tells a melancholy feeling caused by an end to a cheery, happy days. The energy of summer is still present, but it's going to be wrapped soon, replaced by more mellow days.
That's why I choose to focus on the landscape. I think it will illustrate my idea better, while the little figures helps to tell the story. I hope the message went through! ^^;

And more random art studies below...

Thanks for looking! I'll try to post more soon.

Wow! These are stunning! I love the look (and feel) of the landscape in the first drawing. Just for clarification, the people in the middle of your first drawing are Minnie, Mimi and Chi correct? After I finished gawking at the landscape, I zoomed in to get a better look at the people. The rest looks amazing as well. Good luck in the contest and welcome to the forums! c:

Sweet Jesus! That is some amazing art you got there Laudine! Really, really great job man. I sense some good works coming from you in the future!
As I saw the creature, I was as white as an egg. I was so scared I might crack from fear. As the humanoid began to lunge after me, I was walking on egg shells from how scared I was. It grabbed me, took me to its station, and cracked me open. The last thing I saw were my yellow insides cooked on a pan. Human nature is as evil as a rotten egg.

@Cerulean: Yes you're right! I was afraid I botched them hard and no one can recognize them haha xD It was my first serious landscape painting so I was nervous, but I'm glad to hear you liked it! Thank you for the welcome too n_n A little off topic, who is the character in your avatar? I think I've seen her before, but I can't remember where @_@

@Tenshi Nova: Hahahah! I can totally relate. I turn green whenever I see anyone who can paint landscape amazingly >_< I try to learn though.

@Randori: Thank you! ;v; I'm really happy to hear that you liked them. I'll try not to disappoint! xD

@Brother Orin: Thanks! They're interesting subjects to draw. I need to do something similar more often!

@Breach: You are too kind ;_; Thank you very much!

Anyway more drawings below:
Image
A several months old unfinished portrait of my OC. Now that I look back, I can spot many errors that bug me to no end :I I want to finish it, but really cannot find the motivation to. Might try to redraw this instead.

Image
Master studies. 19th century painters are really amazing.
The second one is still unfinished (I'm working on detailing it now).

Image
A metal study of iron man :o

Image
Fur study. Furs take a long long time to paint. Cat is best animal ever though.

Image
Quick still life. I'm embarassingly addicted to ponies >_< I tried to make the ambient light look natural.

Image
Fun two hours thumbnails. No you don't see any reference to pony in the first one

Lastly, I hope no one mind if I share this?

This is a quote from upcoming Alla Prima II book by the artist Richard Schmid http://www.richardschmid.com/. I find it very inspiring and especially encouraging in case of art slump.

Wow I love the detail on the Iron Patriot and that kitten (and of course everything else as well c:). To answer your question though, the character in my avatar is Risa Koizumi (From the manga/anime Lovely Complex).

I'm sorry for the extremely late replies! I've been working all week and barely got time to go online x_x *dies*

@Cerulean: Ah that's why she looked familiar! I read Lovely Complex a long time ago, but never finished it for some reason. I'll have to catch up! It was a great manga. I like your new avatar too!

I'd love to make a comic for SNAFU if I'm allowed to xD

@Morpheus: Thank you! I have somewhat an obsession with beauty ^^; I checked your art thread and wow I love your works! *_*

Here are some colour studies I did.

I'm going to make the first one a finished study.

Plein air painting of a beach near my home.
I just learned that I shouldn't have done waves that way. My bad, I won't repeat the mistake again x_x

I think the following are classified as NSFW.
Most of my figure studies contains nudity or partial. They're artistic nudity, but it's better to be safe than sorry I think xD;
I took a peek at Art forum rules regarding this matter, but if I'm not supposed to post links to these please let me know and I'll take them down!

Those are incredible. Very nice work Laudine.

As for the NSFW, you can post them as long as you put a listing of NSFW near them. They're really not exposing too much either, so I don't really know if you need a NSFW tag, but I would leave it just to be safe. Those are pretty awesome themselves.

Thanks c:

More stellar work, as always Laudine. I think that the only one that was really considered NSFW was that last photo of the last link. I'm not sure about the rest (since as Brax said they don't show much), but it doesn't hurt to be safe c:

Also, Congratulations c:
