WE INTERRUPT THIS THREAD FOR AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM YOUR BENEVOLENT OVERLORDS, THE MODS:
HOW TO KNOW IF YOU ARE ON TOPIC IN A THREAD.
During the course of your visit to the wonderful land of Snafu, you may be asking yourself one of the following questions;
Am I on topic?
Is the current conversation off-topic?
What does it mean to be on-topic in a thread?
What happens if I am off-topic?
We'll be looking into what these means and how you can avoid the danger of being off-topic.
Being on topic is a key function in the order of Snafu. It is a required law followed by all members of Snafu. Failure to stay on-topic can result in warnings, banishment, and public humiliation. So how can you be a contributing member of this community and follow the rules. The first bit is that we need to understand what it means to be on topic. The easiest way to do this is to look at the topic title for a clear indication of what the subject matter is. Then you are to remain within the boundaries of the subject.
For example, little Timmy was on Snafu on day, giving his pimp hand a rest from all of them bitches and hoes he'd been slapping around all day, only to find that a new thread had emerged. Curious, he went to investigate and wondered what all of this was about. checking the title, little Timmy discovered it was a thread dealing with the legalization of pot. This wasn't a problem for little Timmy, he lives in Denver where its already legal.
Now lets say that after an arousing night with his girlfriend, little Timmy gets back on Snafu for some god forsaken reason, and checks into the current update thread of his favorite comic. There he finds a interesting conversation going on about the theories of space/time travel and other shit that just makes no sense. Curiosity piped his interest and he wondered "is this on-topic?" further reading and examination of the title indicated that the comic was indeed about space/time travel as it was a issue within the comic. Remember kids, the subject boundaries for the comic threads is the comic itself. As long as it relates to the comic in some etiquette way and has nothing to do with ducks, harems, real-world politics, furries, or porn.
Should you find yourself in the midst of a off-topic session, politely remind everyone to go back to the topic. Feel free to suggest or make your own thread about the topic matter at hand if interest is there. But remember, the topic needs to stay in the boundaries of the subject or moderator enforcement will arrive and executed authority with extreme prejudice. Multiple moderation warnings could, but are most likely to result in warnings, temporary bans, and thread locking.
As for going off-topic and what happens with you, well, there is a reason why little Timmy is no longer with us and that Blood Lord was missing for a few hours last night.
