Fuck Blaziken, MegaAmpharos, man! Always loved the Mareep-Ampharos line, ever since G/S/C.

I like how Mega Ampharos is basically Fabio.

"Eek the Cat!" taught me that the universe is in fact made up of Fabio.

So clearly MegaAmpharos is tapping into the power cosmic.

Torchic will obtainable via an event, whether he'll also be obtainable in-game in the wild and/or from some NPC is unconfirmed.

Not if you count remakes, since you could get one Hoenn and one Kanto starter from Steven and Prof. Oak in HG/SS. It's after you defeat Red at Mt. Silver for the 1st time.

So what makes the mega evolutions? Is it a rock or something or is just like a normal evolution (leveling up)?

It's done a via Stone and it's a temporary evolution only active during battle. Each species has its own "MegaStone", which is also a held item.

It's like, digimon or something.

And there's gonna be some kind of minigame that can boost stats or IVs or something. And some kind of swarm mode. Seems like there's gonna be a lot of new stuff for X and Y. Some of it gimmicks, probably, but still.

Why oh why did I throw my 3DS away...

You literally threw your 3DS away, or did you simply lose or sell it?
Vegedus wrote:It's like, digimon or something.
HA That's what everyone says, you're like the 20th person I see making that comparison. It's definitely a very Digimon-esque concept. Makes me wonder, if it'll be well received once the games themselves come out.
Vegedus wrote:And there's gonna be some kind of minigame that can boost stats or IVs or something. ..

Supposedly EVs (Effort Values) not IVs (Individual values), which means it's not a very big change, since EVs were always trainable, this'll just make it more "fun" to train them for some people. I hope the original way to train EVs will still work. If IVs were trainable that'd be a gigantic change metagame wise, but Serebii.net says the minigames are for EVs.

Speaking of Serebii, some new info from there:

Serebii.net wrote:Pokémon X & Y - Mega Evolution Clarification

With the official Japanese site update, a small note came out regarding further clarification on the Mega Evolutions. Within this site, it details that with Mega Evolutions, you can only have one Mega Evolution Pokémon in battle. It's not known whether it's talking about all of the battle, or just within your team. This is presumably to allow for a specific balance in the Pokémon. It also clarifies that the Pokémon will revert after the battle has ended, not within it itself when the battle finishes. We're still not 100% on the specifics of this new process, but we'll keep you updated as more information comes
Edit @ 17:14: During the VGC Opening Ceremony, Junichi Masuda revealed a new Mega Pokémon, Mega Kangaskhan. It has the ability Parental Bond that allows its attacks to hit twice in one turn. We'll have pictures and details as soon as possible. Picture thanks to @pklug on Twitter
Edit @ 18:05: It has also been confirmed that the Pokémon X & Y soundtrack will be available worldwide in November 2013 on iTunes

Nah, nothing to that extent was said and it seems very unlikely. When I said "each species" I meant each of the 6 ones (now 7) shown to Mega-evolve.

To me It seems more like giving fan-favorite evolutionary lines a shot at being high-tier competitive without changing their popular designs too much. People always loved Ampharos, Mawile and Absol, but they weren't really useful at the competitive level for a while now.

And while that doesn't go for Blaziken and Lucario, they are much beloved in Japan, so giving them a further boost won't hurt.

I'm just expecting some new 3rd level evolutions of some of the old classics, I'd love a Marowak evolution that makes him like Ground/Dark or Ground/Ghost.

I lost it. Probably in a bus or something. Serious bummer what with games like Shin Megami Tensei 4, Fire Emblem: Whatever and this.

Ouch, 220-230€ out of the window, that's almost half of my monthly wage (roughly 40% if my Math skills are to be trusted).

Speaking of which, I'm actually probably gonna skip these games and the purchasing of a 3DS for now, I find myself with less and less time for gaming on my DSi.

Eh, it's a cute feature and all, but I have a living cat who wants to be pet more the older she gets so...

I'll admit petting a Metagross or a Steelix should be hilarious though.
