Etherian's Art : 2013-12-16 Merry Christmas

Postby Etherian » Tue Jun 18, 2013 3:13 pm

I have been working on a 3D model of Bleedman's Grim Junior which I described in this thread, but decided to move to the Art forum now that it has reached a somewhat mature state. Any future works involving Bleed or SNAFU will likely end up here as well.

My first picture of Junior can be found here: http://fav.me/d690zrh

It's rather rudimentary, but, as I say in the description, I will continue to improve him and make more interesting shots. Then again, that might take a while because I am currently rigging him (that is, making him poseable) which is hard.

Comments, questions, and critiques appreciated. :)

You've done a very good job on this.
I've never gone into 3D models so I can't offer much advice.
But I do think his hair should be more brown in color.
Maybe even abit lighter.

Your model is coming along great, just keep at it. In time you'll be making some really cool stuff.

Thank you for your high praise and comments. I see what you mean about his hair; I fixed it to better match the color from the comics.

As far as advice, I really wasn't expecting much, given the paucity of 3D artists on SNAFU. Most of the help I need is stylistic anyway, like coloring and composition. I would particularly like to get the shading right, since it is something I admire in Bleed's work.

Thanks. I certainly hope so. :D Seeing the improvement of artists like yourself on this forum encourages me.

Etherian's Art : 2013-7-12 Junior at the Beach

Postby Etherian » Fri Jul 12, 2013 9:57 pm

Introducing my first scene with Junior (and ever) that I threw together for the summer contest: Junior at the Beach

Of course, by "threw together" I mean that I spent over 20 hours on it, but I guess that's what happens when you are learning something new.

By the way, how do you hotlink from deviantART and how does dA feel about people hotlinking from their site?

edit: Junior now has swim trunks, as Brax suggested. It never occurred to me that Junior was naked.

Very impressive. It would have been interesting to see a rendered shot, if that wasn't one.

 I'm sorry; what exactly do you mean by rendered? Unless I missed something, the shot was fully rendered by Blender Internal. Is there something that makes you think that it is incomplete?

Thanks for the compliment by the way.

You probably should put some swim trunks on him, unless he's at a naked beach. Still, much better than I could ever do in 3D, so I can't complain.

I suppose it's the software that I usually work with, I wasn't sure. I apologize for that.

That's a nicely done tree, if I didn't know any better I might've thought it was a photo.
