1 glass of cider down
"Suddenly Frodo noticed that a strange-looking weather-beaten man, sitting in the shadows near the wall, was also listening intently to the hobbit-talk. He had a tall tankard in front of him, and was smoking a long-stemmed pipe curiously carved. His legs were stretched out before him, showing high boots of supple leather that fitted him well, but had seen much wear and were now caked with mud. A travel-stained cloak of heavy dark-green cloth was drawn close about him, and in spite of the heat of the room he wore a hood that overshadowed his face; but the gleam of his eyes could be seen as he watched the hobbits."

A friend of mine and I are going out to sign up for college classes for the next semester. Want to try and apply for a grant too and get through without dept.

Thoughts on having Newbury?

Rosehill/Newbury/Rinaldo is a pretty nice 4th line

We have enough tough guys, pests and guys willing to drop gloves between Rinaldo, Rosehill, Simmonds(when he wants to), Talbot, McGinn(usually getting his ass kicked), Coburn. Manning, Lauridsen have proven to be fighters in the NHL and then there's some incoming rookies that won't make the main roster like Derek Mathers. I'm honestly still really uneasy about the whole hole in the crease that shows little sign of being plugged, at this point it's Halak or Tim Tom. Or heaven forebid the new buyout Rick DiPietro.

I just can't believe they would be fucking stupid enough to sign Di Pietro. The guy's as durable as cotton candy

There's no one in the AHL that isn't a project, there's not much for free agency and there isn't much for a trade. So unless they pull some other Russian Kid out of nowhere it's down to about 3 or 4 serious names. Halak, Emery, Khudobin, and then it's flight of fancy stuff like Miller, Thomas, Hiller or Fasth.

So I underestimated Newbury, he's actually almost a PPG player in the AHL it's just that he doesn't play his game in the NHL because durr 4th liners have to fight. I'm kind of glad to get rid of Syvret because he's never going to be an NHL guy for the Flyers but he's taking away top pairing minutes from developing dmen.

I have to hope that at least the former 3 will be more likely to be landed, Di PIetro would solve nothing, he'd play like 2 games(maybe) and then injure himself.

4TH LINERS DO HAVE TO FIGHT, HOW DARE YOU (nah I know what you mean, it does get a bit stupid sometimes)

I'd love to see Hiller, at worse I'm pulling for Emery or Halak, I'm not sold on Khudobin being a starter or even a split crease, Miller would fold under the Philly media like a tissue, Tim Tom would be a whole new level of media circus and Fasth I'm also unsure of and I'm not sure if the Ducks would move him.

I'm guessing the forwards will look something like this:
Simmonds-Giroux-Voracek
Hartnell-Schenn-Read
Laughton-Coots-Akeson
Newbury-Talbot-Rinaldo
That could all change on a trade for a goalie, if Gagne gets resigned, the long rumored Bobby Ryan trade or some UFA deal.

I think you could maybe steal Emery away, they do have Salak coming up the ranks. I dunno who the ducks have coming up as a back up, they might wanna keep Hiller as a bit of insurance in case this season was a one off for Fasth

Looking through Capgeek the Ducks have Frederik Anderson who posted a .929 sv and a 2.19 gaa in the AHL last season. And the Ducks might have to dump some salary. But even getting a good goalie I'm still worried about the D, though Halak would like to play behind a defense that allows more shots through.

Halak does seem to be one of those goalies where the more shots he faces, the more in the game he is.

I think he gets better control when he knows a shot is coming for him versus being blocked out and causing an odd carom to an open attacker or a goofy deflection.
