Let's throw around game ideas

Postby Mr. Sefrol » Tue Jun 18, 2013 1:34 pm

With some talk of actually wanting to getting into making games, as well as looking into how to do it and what sort of things I should look out for or strive to do, the thought of wanting to just brainstorm for stuff came to mind. What are some things that might seem interesting to incorporate into a game, or some story that might seem interesting. If anyone has a random thought for something they'd like to see, throw it out there. I'd love to hear what people think.

I wonder if it would be possible to create an Armored Core flash game. I suppose it could be kinda like R-Type... that is, if anyone these days knows what R-Type is...

A spiritual successor to Battle in Megaville- perhaps with actual combos.

And a real story.

We are talking only flash, right?

People here should still remember it, when it came out is actually surprised everyone at how good it was at the time. Hell, it's still very playable now. Not a lot of flash fighting games out there, so it'd be dipping into a niche crowd. Should it succeed, it would be well known.

A good thing to do first is narrow down the broader things about your game, like genre, and what platform you want it on

A 2D side scroller is a whole of a lot easier to create than a full 3D game

Really, this is about any sort of game. I'm not trying to make a game out of these ideas, but I'd like to see what people would like to see be it an indie game, a triple a title, or just something made in flash for fun. Get the creative juices flowing.

Also, there's an idea that came to me to improve quick time events that feel thrown into games now-a-days. Everyone agrees that Paper Mario did timed button pressing right to get the gratification of lowering/evading damage or powering up attacks, so what if we have quick time events as a sort of tutorial part and training for after where combat involves such actions in battle? Or if you've gotten good at it an event will give you a reward for doing it well after the game's preparing you for it?

A total conversion of an older game would be fun to do.

A game about a Hitman that hears a writers voice in his head, you have to find your target based on the description the writer says. Kill the wrong person and the Writer narrates the way you die so no matter where you run he'll just think of a new way to kill you
Have you tried turn it off and on again?

YOU WONT GET ANY IDEAS OUT FROM ME! I HAVE AN ABUNDANCE OF IDEAS.

...except that the Wii U NEEDS MORE GAMES.

The problem I have with the current next-gen consoles right now is the fact that:

1. While we have sequels to shooters we know and love (and two that I like equally, Titanfall and Destiny), there are already too many shooters in the market that its distracting us from playing quality games.
2. I keep saying this to myself: there is absolutely no replay value in current generation and next-gen games at the moment. The games I truly like are the ones I want to play again one day, even if I haven't played the game in 40 years. The best part is the fact that it wasn't SO GOOD...it was just good enough it had everlasting value to us.

So what are some ideas we can incorporate into games?

CINEMATICS
Looking at the way movies are evolving these days as well as game cutscenes, we are moving closer to the point where video games can have a much more dynamic presentation and can be tweaked to have a plausible story line quite akin to movies itself. This also goes along with the fact that Kiefer Sutherland is playing an older Big Boss. Technology has strived enough that the Video Game Industry is beginning to become more than a business model: it's another type of show-biz that real life actors can get into.

You see, DmC Devil May Cry has used real life actors such as Tim Phillips and David de Latour to portray the likeness of Dante and Vergil in a more plausible manner, along with using Tim's likeness for the twin brothers. Even though the writing for the game sucked, the story line for the franchise is a step forward to something better because the franchise wasn't well known for its plot. I liked the fact that the developers toned down the pizzazz that made DMC to create something interesting and unique that stood apart from the main continuity of the games, even though they tried to fix something that wasn't broken: that was the fact that Reuben Langdon, the DMC3 and 4 Dante having DMC Dante's likeness as well as experience in stunt performing via B-Fighter Kabuto, a tokusatsu series he starred in during the 80's.

There is so much more to it that I want to say. One day, someone could make a game where they use the likeness of experienced actors that may potentially match the personality of the protagonists and antagonists in a story rather than create characters physically through art and find someone that looks like them to make a game that not only has top-notch game play but also plot and cut scenes that make us feel like we're watching a movie. So why did we ever need Netflix for our consoles in the first place? I'm pretty sure there are games that exist with those uh...gosh I forgot that word...but anyways you get what I'm saying right? I love these kinds of games. I feel bad for not having Heavy Rain.

"A DEGREE OF INTERACTION"
I define this as "the player's ability to interact and mingle with the plot and characters without getting too much into it." Having a degree of interaction within the game allows the player to immerse themselves in the eyes of the main character(s), but without dangerously making themselves feel more delusional in the process (Japan...). With the Oculus, along with a microphone that allows the player to talk to the AI and perform events via an advanced form of the Xbox Kinect, the player can truly appreciate the quality of the game they're playing.

Of course I can't get much into it because Grey did mention a dick simulator; this makes porn games a lot more advanced than before with a POV shot of the guy that is a part of a harem. It's straightforward understanding this but there's so much someone can do with this...we can now have hands free gameplay and mingle with a games's gadgets, equipment and machines to make more advanced military simulation games. There's a whole lot of damage that can be done to children's minds this way too, but that also allows children to enhance their learning skills this way too.

Ooh! And maybe a person can hold a live concert using a game console...man this goes WAY BEYOND gaming.

Well, I'll end this at an abrupt note because I have to go eat some BBQ ribs at the moment. I'll have more to say later.
This too shall pass.
