I want to buy one of these two systems, but I'm extremely indecisive on which to get. I won't wait for the PS4 because I'd rather wait to see how it launches and wait for them to work the kinks out (which I highly doubt it'll have).

I'm a casual gamer. Either system I get, I'm getting Black Ops 2, but if I go for the Xbox, I'll also be playing Gears of War.............and I just now realized that's the only exclusive Xbox game I like

I have an Xbox, though through the looking glass and with 20/20 hindsight, that was because at the time, PS3 was a joke. About a year after its release. The joke 'no gaems' actually had meaning.

With the sleeker models, smaller system, no risk of overheating, (Although newer Xboxes have little risk as well) very few online advertisements AS WELL as free online, the choice is almost exceedingly obvious.

PS3 is the better choice from a logical standpoint, because Microsoft is a whore and takes you out of the game way too much. Not to mention the PS3 gets a lot more eastern games, although western games such as Skyrim tend to suffer on the PS3.

However, I don't own a PS3. As I said with 20/20 hindsight, I kept my Xbox since release day for many many years... but a PS3 was always 'just' out of my grasp. It's your choice though. The next generation is close, so you may want to wait, like BL said.

System costs may have come down but Microsoft will still charge you for multiplayer, or even just to access Netflix. To be honest you are probably best off waiting. I mean you seem to have gotten along fine all this time without it. From a matter of price, consider how quickly membership costs will make your choice of Xbox be more expensive.

However if you want Gears of War then just get it. If you've got the money to blow then blow it however you want. The console war doesn't really matter anymore at this point. There's always dozens of factors to consider but usually people are left happiest when they just pare it down to the most important pros/cons. Like does this have the seriesI want? 360 seems to fit your bill there so go for it.

Didn't they mention that they were going to make it so older games can be played through that new Gaikai service?

If there are console specific games you want, go with that. I love Halo, thus why I have no problem with the $60 bucks a year for live (they had $40 during black Friday).

Sorry guy, but you have to decide on wether to choose Xbox or Ps3. Xbox has some exclusives such as Halo, Gears of War, etc. and Ps3 has some exclusives too like Uncharted, inFamous, Resistance, God of War, etc. Personally I would say "get ps3" but you decide.

I would guess that it is to support the extra content that PSN doesn't have. Also to maintain and further improve Xbox Live and the dashboard.

I'm partial to Sony and have never had a reason to own a variance of Xbox because they never had any games that appealed to me. Also, I think PlayStation's controllers are more comprehensive than Xbox's. Prolly just 'cause I've used them for so long.

A smart move for sony would be to make it cheap. They would make a lot more profit especially at launch

Sony will lose money on launch like every console does, but this gen they won't be losing hundreds of dollars on a $600 console, it'll probably be $50 on a $300 base model and they might make money on an upmarket one that just features a bigger HD. The big reason they lost so much last gen was the R&D costs on the cell, but now using modified AMD tech they'll turn a profit sooner than later.
