I think its interesting that you can see her telekinetic lines. Usually you see maybe something like that around the user, but not around the item they are targeting.

I thought part of Jeff's motivation was to dredge up memories to bring back some of Mimi's old humanity with the gift.

Reminding her that she brutally murdered Raven doesn't seem beneficial.

you can't control the recalled memories. While she will feel and remember the good times with Raven, there is a likely possibility with the recall of memories in general, that bad ones come up as well due to association. But as we can see, it does affect her because she begins to wear the jewel in the future.
