It's different from drowning or choking because you can still breath. Also some gasses speed along the process, carbon monoxide in particular is quick acting, that's why people stuck their head in ovens back when we used coal gas instead of natural gas.

I don't know what kind of exit bags that crazy nigga bear is talking about.

An exit bag as i know it is a gas mask or bag connected via tube to a small tank of helium.
You slightly open the helium tank while you are wearing the mask. Your lungs supposedly don't recognize the difference between oxigen and helium so you pass out after 1 or two minutes and die by asphixia shortly after, without you noticing.
