Well, I've always had the theory that since he was able to be cursed in Majora's Mask that he could actually be corrupted. It's one of the only games in the series that he doesn't have the Master Sword, something that's supposed to ward off and repel evil. And even with the Master Sword, he's able to be corrupted by the Dark World in Link to the Past, despite it being in a cute and cuddly way. So it's not entirely unfeasible.

I really like the idea of playing either only as Ganondorf or with him alongside Link. We've seen Mario do it plenty with Bowser, even though he's not evil incarnate. He's just the first ever Ice King. It'd be real fun to see how someone could think of a way for that to work, them cooperating or having Ganon play a lone protagonist (yet not a good guy) role in some way just to change things up.

He's not corrupted by the Dark World, though. The whole reason he is a bunny is because he's pure of heart.

Also, they kind of almost did this with Wind Waker. They didn't make him a playable character or anything, but they at least tried to make him, like, sympathetic in a way and justify why he's being a massive dick.
