The moon was freakin' scary. I'm still baffled as to why it even has a face... oh well, it's a LOZ game.

I hear another theory about him being the Goddess of Time in physical form. Why she chose a man I'll never understand. But the theory goes that, if you notice, when you walk into the clock tower where the salesman is the time at the bottom of the screen is totally gone and time completely stops (so obviously someone/something is controlling the time) since the goddess couldn't defeat the skull kid, she gave her powers to link (the Song of Healing and the first mask you obtain)
This seems kind of far fetched, but still kind of interesting at the same time.
Well remember in the ending of Majora's Mask when the HMS walked away from Link and Skullkid, he suddenly disappeared. Seemed a bit odd.
Also a theory of the HMS and the moon, from the Zelda Wiki Pages:
Zelda Wiki wrote:When Link arrives on the moon, there are 5 children who all resemble the Happy Mask Salesman. All of them mention that they want to grow up to be mask salesmen outright or subtly. It is because of this that the Mask Salesman is sometimes theorized to come from the moon.
