Yeah, I consider it a tradition to hate every new Pokemon until the game is actually released.

I always hate the new designs until I actually play the game. Though I still think an Icecream Cone is in bad taste.

I'm holding my hate until they show more Pokemon. They've only shown 5 new ones. So far, I only like 1, and that's Froakie.

Weirdly enough, that's the pokemon I'm seeing get the most gruff. You have the grass type that looks like a more respectable chipmunk pokemon, Fennekin is an interesting fox type not seen before, even in popular media (and is a really cute fox variant), Xerneas looks like something out of Princess Mononoke, and Yveltal looks to be a Roc, possibly fire type by the glowing red body. My favorites are Fennekin and Xerneas personally.

I like Fennekin, but I don't really like Xerneas, the X Legendary. I have a feeling we've seen him like five times already, he looks too much like other divine legendaries, you know?

I am very indifferent to Froakie, but the grass Pokemon just makes me angry to look at. Also- is it like an armadillo... or what?

I'm still leaning toward it being something close to a chipmunk. But better than Patrat. Way better.

I have no strong feelings one way or the other. I want to see all the new additions beforehand.

Chespin looks like a hedgehog to me...or a chipmunk with a hat. I'm still trying to decide on one.

Unfezant is somewhat a roadrunner.

It looked more like a Pheasant than a road runner. You know. "Unfezent". Doduo and Dodrio comes close to a roadrunner, but it's more of an ostrich. A roadrunner pokemon would be something to see that's a smaller version of it.

Eelektrik or Galvantula? I'm trying to decide which one to use as my main electric type pokemon and it's a difficult choice.
Might go with Galvantula and abuse it's huge speed with Energy ball.

Well, it depends on what the rest of your team looks like. If you evolve Eelektrik to an Eelektross, you have yourself a pokemon without a weakness (with it having levitation), but it's slow. Super slow. Yet it has a good variety of moves to choose from to tackle a lot of weaknesses.

As for Galvantula, total opposite. Speed is it's game. Having it have Unnerve also has the chance of screwing up your opponent's plans, not letting them eat their berries. Yet you'll often find people use Compound Eyes instead for the accuracy boost.

So really it depends on if you want a slow electric pokemon with no weaknesses or bug moves to learn except U-turn, yet a big variety of other moves to use, or a super fast electric pokemon with low defenses who can STAB with good bug type moves and Thunder. What do you think your team needs more?

That would be interesting to see, though I still thought Golurk would fit that description by looks. It just looks like a steel type to me.

I should consider putting my VGC teams on here for criticism sometime, though. I'd like to see what others think of my team.

I can't believe there's a new gen already.

Yeah it's kind of Bonkers, I'm not even done disliking THIS gen's bad Pokemon design yet. Game Freak just LOVES to steal our money.

Though joke's on them, their past 5 generations were free for me. Now they have an eyesore of a 3DS game that looks worse than Super Mario 64 DS's 3D graphics, but I'll take what I can get.

I need a 3DS for Etrian Odyssey 4 anyway.

Personally, I'm okay with it. The 3d battle designs look neat to me, and we're actually getting some new evolutions seeing Sylveon, making me believe they will do more than just one new evolution to already existing pokemon.

Also, it's not like it was just yesterday that the 5th gen came out. It's been almost 3 years since then, and it's always around 3-4 years between each gen. The time between the first to second and second to third gens were both 3 years apart. It's not that bonkers. But I do agree that following the 5th gen, the pokemon in the 6th need a little dazzle in their ranks to get back the people that didn't really enjoy 5th's roster.

Trainers in battle.
So I'm a great fan of Pokemon, and I've wondered if it is possible for trainers to fight alongside their Pokemon. It's like a tag-team battle except instead of a second Pokemon, it's the trainer him/herself who joins the fray.
What do you think? Would this make a cool twist?

Interesting idea, but how would it work?

It would have to not be based in the current Pokemon universe. After all, the only real 'fighting' you could do at this point is punch someone in the face or shoot them with a gun. But if you were to set it in a different universe, say a fictional medieval time, you could send out a Pokemon or have it assist you as you combat someone.

Using them more as a means than an end would allow for things such as using them for powerups for yourself as you combat other people. I could imagine it as a Devil May Cry kind of game or a God of War kind of game. Pokemon being more like Powerups, or party members.

It would be an interesting idea if pulled off well.

Figured I'd poke my head in here to see what's up.

Anyways if this topic hasn't been brought up yet I'd like to ask if anyones seen the Pokémon people are referring to as Mewthree which is either a new Mew clone or and evolved form of Mewtwo. I've seen the teaser and the art for him and I don't think he looks all that bad, his design makes him seem kind of alienish to me and the back of his head is basically Mewtwo's tail.

Personally, I'd rather just have a Mew on my team if could only choose one.
