Many choose not to. They dwell in self pity.

It's pretty pathetic.

There are people that whine and bitch and moan about all their problems, and how much they suffer, and bla (Including me, I realize that I was a little bitch back then). And most have small, insignificant dilemmas. Male is allowed to be sad. He's basically losing his house. But I don't see him whining and bitching. That's what adds to my respect of him.

They get caught up in their own issues, and they almost never realize that they have way more in their lives to be happy about. Even when one man has nothing, happiness can always be found. And they can always fix their issues, but they don't want to.

If I met myself from a year back, I would have beat the shit out of myself. Yelled at the guy to stop despairing, and to fix his shit himself. I would have told him to not let Sarah go.

For most, sadness is a drug. And it's an addiction that needs to stop.

I dont mind people whose status quo is being depressive little balls of snot. What i do mind is when they wonder why they have no friends even though people try to explain the reason.

I have a really close friend that goes into pretty deep fits of depression... I think he's getting better with it since I helped him get a girlfriend (it was a bit of a challenge getting them to notice each other... god damn), but he's always going on about how he doesn't deserve her, then I'll show how much they're alike, and then we'll all get together and laugh it off until next time he dips down into his little pool of sad. But then he's still pretty young. He'll man up soon enough.

And I agree with you with that last bit Yog. No matter how many times I cheer my friend up or get him to see how bad his excuse for being sad is, he'll pop right back into it the next time I see him.

you really don't understand depression at all. what you say here causes someone to be DEPRESSED. it does not cause actual DEPRESSION.

there is no cause of true depression other than the chemical imbalance. that's all. and it affects the way you DEAL with the bad things that happen to you like losing your home or the death of a loved one, or even just a bad day.

most of the shit that happens to me is no worse than what happens to everyone else but my hopelessness renders me practically immobile because of my depression.
