Well the writer, if we are going to take their word for it- must have also been responsible for the never ending battle and pretty much every other problem as well.

Why not kick him/her out and start new, not only with the story, but with a new writer as well, using the previous story as a guideline for 'what not to do.'

They did get a new writer, like 4/5s of the way through the battle. Its DMajor if I recall correctly.
