Hello Everyone

In honor of Halloween, I have a question. Ha anyone heard of the Cthulhu Mythos, created by H.P Lovecraft?

Who's kuh-fulu? Is he a shagathoth?

I always am disturbed by the fact that H. P. Lovecraft was very, very racist.

Oh you know how it is. So one of my cousin's agreed with me that my short story was in effect a modern version of a Lovecraftian story. It was nice to hear what he thought about it all.

It's posted in the Lit Forum. Didn't you read it? I could have sworn you were going to read it. Or maybe I am thinking of someone else.

I feel it a bit sad that people really haven't read Lovecraft, yet seem to regard Cthuhlu as, 'some scary monster thing'.

Hell, I remember reading a collection of the tales when I was 13, in the dead of the night during Halloween. Gave me insomnia for about two weeks.

Mind you, I slept some, of course, but I was just mostly awake out of fear and aggravated paranoia. I felt as though my own sanity was a just a small fracture away from shattering.

I wouldn't trade that memory for anything.

Cthulhu and his pantheon could be seen from other perspectives as my childhood monsters, but for me, they were not simply scary fiends. No, they were the stuff of darkest, most vile nightmares, where sanity was a treasure in a realm of constant babbling and madness.

...

Oh wow I went off.

But yeah. That's why I can't really stare at the cutesy personifications of my beloved horrors, haha.

The most powerful thing about lovecraft's books is imo what your imagination does while reading them.
No videogame, no movie, no nothing will ever be as awesome.

try reading some on drugs holy shit

Actually Mirak.

Umm. I forgot to mention.

That reading session I had.

Was during some of my experimentations.

I think, at that time, it was shrooms.

So. Don't follow my example, KIDS!

Unless you want to be stuck with horrible nightmares every October.

I think, from all the books, lovecraft's commonplace book is my favorite. Partially because the collection of ideas help someone with an active imagination like me create complete stories in my head, and partially because it was used in a very fun competition i participated in; picking one entry of the commonplace book and creating a game about it, mine being #23: The man who would not sleep—dares not sleep—takes drugs to keep himself awake. Finally falls asleep—and something happens. Motto from Baudelaire p. 214. [Hypnos] (playable here).

Idk i just haven't seen anything like it.
