Snafu-ComicsI find this comic strip to be extremely relevant in the context of modern society and current events that are transpiring. Note the symbolism of the no trespassing sign. An actual authority figure isn't even there to enforce it. It's just a nameless fascist symbol, lurking in the background, with the poor characters oblivious to it with their backs turned to it. In their desire to reattain the American Dream, a foolhardy goal at best, they remain blind to that which keeps them down - they are oblivious to the fact that those who already achieved it have shut the door behind them, hence "No Trespassing". Note that the man in the sign is black. Note the circle is red. No communists or black people allowed. Now note that the background color is white. This sign is telling you not to trespass in white territory.
It is also important to consider what the sunglasses mean. All in all, you'd expect him to be an Aryan character, and hence accepted into the racial fold and allowed to prosper in our inequal society. However, the sunglasses cover his eyes, he can only see the white, but he is
not white. The sunglasses are black, illustrating that at his core he is a repressed negro like all the rest of the blacks. The reflected light is his dream to eventually join white society, but it bounces off at literally the speed of light - he never even had a chance.
It's taken me a while but now I see the genius of Nix. We need to spread the word about his comics. The people need to know.
