Interesting. It said she "really wanted her to have that ruby necklace, but on a titan's budget, it was the best [she] could do". By the words used here, it sounds like Mimi isn't getting a ruby necklace. She's most likely getting that thing stuck to her forehead.

Wait a minute, something just occured to me.

The world had been destroyed when Raven bought that gift.
Who would have been around for her to pay?
If she wanted to gat the ruby necklace, she could have picked it up from the
ruins of a jewelery store for free.

I inferred the present was bought before the destruction we saw. Once the cataclysmic events occurred she and other heroes would be too busy trying to save lives or fight the enemy rather than focus on a present.

Besides, Raven has a dour persona, but she would not pick up abandoned jewelry out of convenience. That level of opportunism would be close to stealing. She clearly had the ability to procure a ruby necklace with her abilities even before this, but I get the impression that she would work to pay for a lesser gift than pick up a more desired one via less moral means.

Ah, I see.
She takes the high road and all that.

Umm... It was a necklace in that box, but the pendant definitely looks like what Mimi has stuck to her forehead in present time...

Probably, though it is also possible that Mimi simply wears the necklace as a diadem on her head. Her widows peak means that she could have the pendant in the place we see and have the chain entirely hidden in her hair (provided she also had some hairpins in there to hold it in place)

I'm suggesting that Raven got the forehead thing instead. From word usage that Raven used, it sounded like she wanted to get the necklace, but couldn't afford it. SO she got something else instead.

I've been curious as to the existence of this whole 'Mimi' tangent for a while now. A single, lone question always remains, and it alone keeps me coming back to these pages even more than any other reason.

Why do these exist? We all know what happens in the end, after all we are seeing the end result, these are just memories. There is nothing this can really show us that we don't in one way or another; already know.

So why? What do these extra parts NEED to show us? Why MUST this tangent exist? What in it is absolutely required for us all to see?

Something perhaps, that none of us even expected? We can hope.
