the fact of the matter is: we can begin to make changes without fear of our forum blowing up the moment the gates go down, because we can make the changes for security that are required to ensure better bot protection.

I think it might be good to mention that we are likely to get some new users once the gates open. And these newbies might be immature and silly. They may sometimes even resemble bots in their ramblings as well. So just be mindful.
