I just thought of another possibility for the bomb. what if it combines parallel worlds meaning that what happened in one that did not nesscarily happen in the other affects the overall world in terms of what happens to the heroes and the city. Although I do not think snafu will do this becuase having to face your alter ego in order to be the one to remian is way to complicated.

Although this could explian a destroyed city of equally powerful foes fought for dominance making it ground zero.

It seems Monkey will be the only one unaffected by the bomb, whatever it really does. You know what they say about someone like that, don't you? I believe it was something about Greeks and horses. In this case, though, it seems what we have is a Trojan Monkey.
