Anywhere between 150-300 games I believe- assuming you don't have any XP boosters. Should make the system to make it similar to the fact that you should have about 300 posts?

Also, interesting thought: In the Tribunal, cases automatically get set up due to how many times a guy was reported. While this would make it easier to single out a person, will there also be a Snafu-Tribunal for reported threads? Getting them locked even if a Mod isn't online? That sounds useful, especially if a Bot were to show up and no-one was online.

Yelling is bold that's for emphasis.

If you are trying to jump on my case (again) let me state it wasn't I who brought up the Tribunal. BR did. I'm merely brainstorming how its conversion to the site would work. Not how it would actually get put in though... I have neither the power nor the knowledge to do so.

Talking about stuff like the things people could do with it, how it could be expanded to also include threads- and asking who could use it. No need to yell for emphasis.

He's not trying to jump on your case, he is legit asking how a tribunal works.

Well that's different. Sounded kind of rhetorical on the grounds that it was both in all caps and directed at me. If he's asking for the actual logistics of how such a thing works... I can only present what League of Legends has done, how it works and how it would (in theory) work on this site.

In LoL, when a player is reported enough his case is submitted to 'The Tribunal.' Where players Levels 20-30 are allowed to review the case and judge whether or not he should be punished or not. These punishments range anywhere from a strict warning to an outright ban. Lesser things such as 'Sucking' during the match usually don't do anything but have you placed in a lower bracket. Heavier things such as Racial Slurs or Quitting the game all together almost always result in heavy bans. Weeks, months at a time.

Repeating for emphasis, all players levels 20-30 are allowed to partake in the judging process, and whatever majority comes out will decide one of 2 things.

If the majority says he is 'innocent' higherups will not be bothered to cross examine his case.

If the majority says he is 'guilty' a higherup will review the case sternly under the assumption that the people within said tribunal see him as a 'bad person' and if he agrees he gets banned, flat and simple.

On this site, it would likely be up to Gold members, due to Mods already having the power and will to both review and ban people who are breaking the rules or being dicks. But if a Tribunal system IS created, a much more quick- and a potentially more efficient way of dealing with bulk cases will be made.

A very quick and efficient way to find bad posters and bots. Keep in mind even if 100% of the tribunal said someone was guilty- if the higherup doesn't think he is nothing happens. Probably an anti-trolling mechanism. That's how it works.

In theory of course, there is no promise such a thing can even work on this site.

no, that literal thing can't work, as far as I know. An automated voting system.

But we could emulate it. There might be a chance for punishment to be discussed in the private, hidden gold forum, about specific users, with polls on them being banned or not, when the mods are divided, we might ask the gold members. It would be useful, I think. I appreciate this conceptualizing, Birdot. :)

I presume the punishments of users discussed in the gold forum would then only consist of "social" cases. Discussion of whether or not to ban a spam bot, or some user who spams pornography, or some other more severe and obvious rule violations would merely impede the efficiency of the process. I think a good way would be to let the gold forum give their opinions in cases of users who are causing trouble or unrest, but aren't directly breaking any rules.
Thus giving a sign that the community does not want the user around. Whether or not the gold members and the like are actually the voice of the majority of the forum userbase is, or will be, debatable.

I'm with Mir@k. A user being discussed in private has to be about the potential for that user's proclivities, their tendencies, to incite flame wars and the like on too regular a basis in forums outside of whatever we eventually rename Spam.

Mostly, anyway, about spam. Because a little dicking around in Spam is part of the point of the forum. But like. Spamming nazi flags, that thing happened.

I only ever had one person foed in my history on this forum. No, it's not who you think- and I took them off in like a week anyway.

The system is already very low-key and low-priority and I see little reason to change it, honestly.

Foers gonna foe.

So, is anything actually happening with this anymore? I mean, the last post was nearly a month ago and I've yet to actually see anything change (aside from the titles being added)

If you're taking about updating the forum and whatnot, that hit a snag since to do that people need access to the server, which we do not have. Dave being Dave he has been slow to react to requests to give said access. Apparently, he will be able to do that in a few weeks, once he's done going to cons.

See; Now I was lead to believe that we already had his attention.

We got a 'mission accomplished' in the Spam's 'good news' thread. Now apparently, even from BeeAre it turns out that it stalled. Apparently we still got to heckle him. I've already sent the guy like 5 emails. At a certain point I have to wonder if what I'm doing even matters in the slightest.

...

And wait, now that I think about it, which cons is he going to? It would be ironic as fuck if it was comic-con.

We've had his attention for quite a while. It's just been difficult to get him to do something since he's been dragging his feet.

His last convention was in Detroit of all places. That by itself is a little mind boggling.

I hope he doesn't find it offensive that I've told people what convention he's gone to, seeing as the main Snafu page lists 2010's convention schedule.

Or God from the Old Testament. Like the opening to the movie Prince of Egypt.
