Also pabst, never ask "did we have a date" because you'd be taking a shit on your progress. Go out with her a couple of times, and after she's got used to your presence you should start to notice if she likes you as more than friends or not. After a couple of dates, if you're not sure if you guys are dating, bring the question. But not after the first one dawg, 'cuz you never know if she's the type of girl that gets scared off when guys do that.

The psychiatrist set up something with a therapist too so we'll see how it goes. I'm not an optimist on such things helping but it doesn't hurt to give it a try.

And Sefrol I agree with Mirak. Some girls will want to be in a relationship without ever having to use the terms to describe it (i.e. saying you're going on a date, or calling you their boyfriend). Unless you're going out with someone who has something wrong in their head, or they're exploiting you for a nice time out, they're going to know what's going on.

My last girlfriend and I met because she was basically stalking me. She pestered a guy for my phone number until he gave it to her. Then she called me at home under the pretense of checking the status of her security clearance (which is part of what my job here entails), and in the middle of checking it for her, she asked me if I liked coffee.

For a moment, I thought she was just making idle conversation so I told her I was more of a "tea" person. Seconds later, it dawned on me that she was asking me out.

Totally serious here.

But she was hot, so like Hell I was going to turn her down for a date. I'm just glad I still have most of my skin left.

So on my walk home from work tonight(about a 45 minute walk) I was thinking about this thread. Because I actually had a good day today, this week actually; I was thinking about making a sort of 'Snafu: Good News" thread. Kind of like a mirror to this thread. I'm sure you know that last sentence was a joke. In any case...

If someone who met you for about half an hour when you went to medical to check out a pain in your shoulder (she's a corpsman), and you and she only talked about random stuff to pass the time while waiting for the Doc to arrive... and then later that day she pesters someone for your phone number and then calls you up at home under false pretenses in order to eventually ask you out... even if it was in the same 24 hour period, it's still kinda like stalking.

If you want to talk privately with someone about it I'm willing to listen to whatever problem you have. If I don't know the answer to your problem, I can at least make a recommendation on where to start.

Also, my plans to hang out with that girl I asked fell through. The only movie she wanted to see stopped showing (seriously, it was only in theaters a week...), so we only just talked a bit and called it a day. I tried to think of other things to do, but nothing was any good. Not a lot of fun places to go where we live. Everything's up about 30 minutes away.

At least we got to know each other a little more though.
