I'll be making the name choices. I will not be including Spam as the original name unless as included in a new way of inferring that spam is allowed, but with the additional purpose of being a forum with relatively relaxed rules.

I don't mind the red tape part of the forums' changing, because I'm very good at red tape. So clog away at suggestions. I've made quite a few, but will only pick the serious ones I think will be useful.

but keep tossing ideas around guys, creative process is exploration, a basic function of how we think. Try to connect seemingly unrelated ideas and see if there is a connection. I am very passionate about how creativity can just happen if you let your mind wander.

Gangsta's Paradise? The lyrics of Coolio's song describe the sophistication of the forum perfectly, but it can be tweaked a bit.

Also, I once consider Faux Pas 9 or something like that because Faux Pas according to thesaurus is a synonym to Snafu. 9 derives from Cloud 9 which is a two word synonym to Paradise. Much of my inspiration for the names come from the song.

Also, this also popped in my head while I was doing this:

I don't blame you; you have nothing for which to apologize; there was no mistake made by anyone in thinking about that name. You did nothing wrong. Believe that, please.

My reasoning for my words is thus: to be a basement is just too thematically synonymous with the concept of Spam, which was a ration food that became known as cheap to acquire in bulk, to the point of people having too much of it all the time. So they began to dislike it and some anonymous person made the connection to the bulk of bad e-mails or posts they received online in the 90s, when the term was adopted.

I don't mind the slight indication of apprehension, because that is a part of what makes the forum good: the threat of argument that is not merely permitted, but often actively sought. That's why I am trying to think about Spam in a way that allows for the familiarity, but with a spin on it that lets it be more inviting while still maintaining its atmosphere of relaxed discord.

It's an interesting linguistic challenge to me, having seen so many people offer so many ideas about it.
