It has come to our attention that quite a number of people have opinions and concerns and thoughts and grievances about all of this Gold Card Club nonsense, but haven't had a place to let it all out.

Well, do so here. If you have any ideas or opinions about all of this change, voice it here.

This thread is not just limited to discussion of the Gold Card Club, but to changes on the forum as a whole.

If you'd like to make suggestions for the inner workings of the forum, such as colours and...things, toss them into this thread.

Specifically: We haven't had a SINGLE thread to argue the nature of the Forums and Gold Card idea out. So we can argue it out here, instead of spreading it across threads. If you want to bring links to arguments, or quotes, do so.

Discuss here issues pertaining to the forum at large. Include solutions, if you can, please. Do not just say "this sucks", if you can help it. Offer ideas to counteract what you believe is a possible bad decision.

There are Google Ads that I'm sure most of you can't see due to AdBlock.

Also presumably Dave should be interested in cultivating the growth of the forum and directing that towards SharkRobot. If you had a thriving forum community, and had them interested in the comics, you'd have more people buying stuff from there.

Plus, it would probably be easier to work on revitalising this place than starting something new.

Anyway, I was wondering, just to be clear, are there going to be other clubs than the gold one in the future?

Not necessarily metal-based ones either, just clubs in general, in the possible future.

This one's always been just temporary to test out the resources, largely. Other groups are intended to be made for differing purposes and requirements for application. Also think that the colors are meant to be changeable to suit varied tastes.

No offense, but doing so may also lead to the possibility of a social separation by rank and group in the forums. The last thing anyone needs is a rainbow-colored argument in multiple threads.

It is a neat idea though, assuming they actually serve a purpose as clubs.

A little suggestion to spare here, it might be nice for a post count ranking system to be implemented in here. One of the forums I visit has one, where a little picture bar below everyone's avatar shifts based on post count, and eventually leads to a completely customized and individualized picture.

If your intention was to create a club based around creating a better forum then having a club calling itself the Gold Card club is of course going to reek of elitism. It's a title that immediately elevates yourselves as betters. The gold color that clashes against the entire aesthetic of the website is part of that problem, it's really no better than just having a neon pink title. It's only purpose is to scream for everyone's attention. And for what purpose exactly do you need such an obnoxious color? To inform everyone that you're part of the exclusive club and everyone else isn't?

Moderators have their names colored so that people understand when a post is speaking with authority. Having ordinary forum members given colored names over others serves no purpose other than to show off.

You can still do all you guys intend to do with improving the forums, but having your names colored gold does nothing to serve that purpose.

Having the will to help the forum is not an incentive, it's a requirement. The visual incentive is merely a tag to recognize who is actively involved in this and a way to make these members stand out above the common crowd, because if there is no visual incentive, then there is no incentive at all for new people to even apply for this. If what's so infuriating about it is the gold color, it can simply be changed to another that doesn't press your anger buttons so hard, and everyone's ears are open to suggestions, which is why this thread was made.

Honestly for now, keep the gold, nothing can be done about it until the forum itself has undergone its change, because we could very well be seeing someone complain about admin and mod blue because of the new colors we might have on the new forum layout , we don't know, no one is making any finalised descisions and something like this can seriously wait when honestly we don't know if whatever it is changed too wont be just as much of an eyesore on Snafu 3.0
