Introducing the... Engineer?

That actually looks like a lot of fun. Turrets ftw!

I love the Engineer's skillset. And the first vid there was awesome, he was freaking grenade hopping!

Yup, Norn ranger

Though I'm having trouble getting my Hall of Monuments rewards, which saddens me... I really want my Black Moa back (and name him Donnie Darko :3)

I'm currently playing a Norn ranger as well. I'll say, I'm glad I have the next few days off.

Weird. I plan on making a Norn Ranger. Or a Sylvari one, I don't know. When I can get extra character slots I want all eight classes, but dividing them up, I can't think of one I actually prefer Sylvari. Maybe I just don't like being a plant.

Main is a Charr Engineer, though. I forge the weapons of Charr supremacy!

LISTEN UP, I'm seriously considering getting this game but as I've never played the first one AND I'm invested in mists of pandaria coming out soon.
A little on the fence here about it.

Someone convince me.

I'm probably not the one to talk to then... While its a great game, its just shit compared the the first Guild Wars. It's what I had feared, they dumbed it down. Now the game is all about equipment and less about skill, whereas in the original game, you could get to max level in one day, get max gear in two days and after that it was a question of skill and builds.

It's not a bad game, its certainly a step forward when it comes to MMO's, but its just too painstakingly obvious that they are trying to one up WoW. With the way gear and the implementation of crafting.

The random events are cool though, there's always something to do around.

Interestingly, there's already someone who achieved level 80. Before the game even officially releases.

Yeah, the limited edition people got 3 days early access so I'm not surprised in the slightest.

I've bought, played and enjoyed Guild Wars 2 and the primary reason for that is the WvW mode. A server goes up against two other servers in a massive 4-map-sized game of king of the hill. One map for each server's "home" territory and one map as the "Eternal Battlegrounds". Fighting over camps, towers, keeps and castles nets your server control of it and every 5 minutes your server gains a certain number of points depending on the size of your capture. At the end of a week, the points are tallied up and whichever server out of the three has the most, wins.

Laying siege to castles by building trebuchets and choking off reinforcements is incredibly epic. Defending a castle with a squad of 10 against 50 players is intense, but doable. But personally, I like working with a small team. I play with a tight group of friends and we're fairly capable of hitting unguarded supply camps like a squad of Navy Seals, getting the points, killing whatever straggler gets in our way and getting out.

So far my main character is only level 20, but because of the way PvP works, while my gear is still the same, when I enter WvW mode my stats goes up to match a naked level 80's (the max).

I'm not capable of devoting a lot of time to GW2 and I'm at a disadvantage when I only have level 20 gear, but I manage to pull through with the help of teamwork and skill.

I've never played the first Guild Wars, so don't ask me how it compares to that, but so far I really like the sequel.

I'm curious about the WvW, is it still based on your level? Like if you are level 10 are you up against 80's or does everyone find a lovely middleground?

There's the beauty of GW2, when you enter PvP you're automatically lvl 80, with all the equipment that comes with it

Havent tried WvW yet, since my first experience with it was a complete clusterfuck, but I'm really enjoying the regular PvP. Rangers feel very powerful there

As for it living up to its prequel, I'm finding it more difficult to make that comparison. There are some things I really miss, like dual professions and much more skills to choose from, but GW2 also does a lot of things better, mostly the grand scale of things (GW1 was all instanced)

Lvl 41 Norn Ranger with tier 1 armor :3

Am I the only one who finds leveling incredibly tedious, or is it made much easier if you do a lot of WvW? Because I tend to like to do the story in MMOs, but doing so is made difficult by how hard it is to level up.

I find that the events draw me away from just how tedious the leveling part is, but let's face it; leveling up in most MMOs become a huge grindfest.

The idea that I NEED you low level fuckers to fight off these 15 centaurs is really fun.

I'm more interested in PVE, instances, dungeons, etc. more than PVP. Is there any really good PVE content, or is the game pretty much 70%+ PVP?

Its definitely more focused on PvE, so you'll be good in that area
Not saying PvP is under developed or anything like that, but PvE is bigger.

I do agree that the leveling can get a bit tedious, but lately I've been getting 100% completion on every map, and that tends to level me pretty quickly (and finding Vistas is kinda fun).

P.S. Anybody else found the secret pirate shop in Lion's Arch yet? :3
