I guess everyone is too busy playing it to be discussing it.

It's pretty good.

I'd prefer Torchlight 2 over Diablo 3.

That's what I said as well

And yet, here I am, playing D3

I tried the original Torchlight just now, and it just cant even hold a candle (see what I did there?) to the kind of fluid gameplay D3 offers. Of course, they probably have streamlined it in Torchlight 2, but its still the same engine

Yup. I've played Torchlight too, and while it's a decent game, it really isn't any Diablo III. People just like rooting for the little, indie, guy.

I doubt if I'm going to be playing the sequel, I can really only handle so much hack'n'slash, but from the sound of the previews, there's going to be some innovation and polish to it, but nothing that'll topple the master. People can be as "indie's rule, corporations drool!" and "ALWAYS-ONLINE RUINED EVERYTHING FOREVER" as much as they like, but a good game is a good game.

TotalBiscuit.

Not saying it ain't a good game but it seems to be a little poe-faced for my liking, Torchlight 2 has ghost pirates now that is a little humorous for mobs and you can make your pet a mimic.

Veterans at Blizzard worked on the first game and a lot of people who worked on Diablo are working on the sequel... You're comparing a two year old game to a game that was just released, by Blizzard no less.

I've played Diablo 3 and, honestly, I still prefer Torchlight to it. I prefer the atmosphere and setting that Torchlight has. Diablo's a bit too dark for my liking.

People can like a game for more of a reason than "an indie company developed it." People didn't play and buy Minecraft because Mojang was indie. They played and bought Minecraft because it's a good game.

The ironic thing is, when the first previews were released, many hardcore fans raged that it wasn't "dark enough". Something Blizzard in turn parodied.

Ok, so it's not impossible to like Torchlight more for legitimate reasons, especially if something like art style is a deciding factor. I've just seen a lot of people (more over at reddit than here) where people that haven't even played Diablo III (and, well, no one has Torchlight II, so comparison is meaningless), and dismiss it out of hand because it's made by "evil corporation" which just reeks of douchebag hipsterism.

Considering the fact that Torchlight 2 closed beta is running right now...

Nightmare is getting pretty hard.
Mainly because I refused to switch from my fancy multi-effect weapons for higher DPS ones. Lulz.
Same for armor.

Also, there is an achievement for punching Diablo. Most amusing.

Playing inferno... as a Barbarian... the pain... Act 1 is proving to be a huge kiting game for me. I do love the challenge but the moment I see elites or champions with Mortar, Vortex or invulnerable minions I'm kinda forced to remake the game since I'll be unlikely to get too far.

Still it's a ton of fun.

Well shit.
I got bored, switched language, it started downloading about 3 gigs of shit (do they really dub them?) and when it reached optimum (but incomplete) I started the game. It dies and now the launcher's being a bitch. Keeps telling me something about the anti-virus or some program might be interfering with it. Okay some programs on the side just didn't shut down. Kinda curious as to what the other dubs would sound like though.

I could try out the portuguese one. Pretty sure it will sound awful.
