Yeah all the series dropped by Mangastream took a dive translation wise, except perhaps One Piece.

Naruto got hit the hardest. Probably because that specific fanbase just wants really fast releases to get its fix.

Big 3 are out. I'm really liking One Piece lately, this arc is good. Law's powers are insane. I wonder if the floating soul is Moria since Doflamingo supposedly destroyed his body.

Naruto's chapter had 16 pages without the plot advancing even a little and a completely pointless flashback.

he's a minor character who always was vaguely in the background and now suddenly he's important and uber-powerful

either way maybe it's just too formulaic at this point for me, I just don't see Kabuto as a decent antagonist

Kabuto has always been a potential super villian; I doubt otherwise he would have lasted as long as he has. He's been in Orochimaru's shadow his whole life (or at least what the audience is shown) and with Orochi now dead he has complete freedom to do as he pleases. Combining his DNA with what was left of Orochimaru I'm sure doubled both his powers and intelligence at least. He's never been a minor character; every time he has fought he has held his own quite well. He almost took down the 5th Hokage even after she rewired his nervous system (something like that) took the rasengan full blast, fought kakashi and outsmarted him and he's been the right hand of orochimaru for years, it's only natural he would eventually surpass his own teacher. He may not be the strongest fighter but for what he lacks in strength he makes up in knowledge, I doubt Tobi's army would have lasted this long in the war if Kabuto had not resurrected previous warriors. It's not that he's bland; he's just smart enough to know when not to grab attention in order to blend in. He may not be the most popular bad guy in the show but at this point he is the most dangerous (You might say madara is, but kabuto just has to end the jutsu and away goes madara).

Still not liking Kabuto at all and to be honest he could've been written out so god damn long ago.

He's a legitimate antagonist that's for sure, he's just a very lame one in my opinion.

I would like Kabuto as a chess master type villain, but instead of securing an arbitrary mcguffin while everyone else is otherwise occupied, he's taking 2 of the strongest ninjas head on and bragging about how his techniques are invincible. I call villain decay.

Be that as it may, don't kid yourself, he will be either defeated or even killed with the jutsu still in motion, once this fight ends.

Storytelling dictates that the end boss wil be a prominent villain with an emotional feud with Naruto. So either Sasuke, or if Sasuke somehow gets redeemed super fast, Tobi. Not Madara, not Kabuto.

Oh I know that, Kabuto is not a main villian type of character, he's more of a "we are going to use him as a mid-boss to show how much the main character has grown". In this case it's to see how Sasuke would fight using his new eyes before taking on Naruto and pals. He's like what Bowei Sensei said, "You've never heard of them and after fighting them you won't remember it even happening. But for the next 90 minutes, you'll think they're the biggest threat you've faced in your entire life"

Yeah but he's going to have something new regardless if he fights Naruto, otherwise we're just seeing the same stuff, so by that logic at least it seems pointless. I mean, I recognize the necessity of having him be a villain, you can't just forget about him but you can't have him die like a pushover in a few panels either, so meh.

I bet this fight will somehow lead to Sasuske getting stronger. He needs a buff more to be able to rival the current Tobi fight.
