Name: Sno McCarthy
Age: 24
Birthday: 5-17-1987
Sex: Female
Sexuality: Male
Hometown: North Bend, Washington
Clothes: Hot For the warmer climates, Sno wears a short, yellow t-shirt, which reaches to just above her belly button. It's adorned with a dark blue diamond shape on her chest, with a two blue 6's facing each other, the right one being mirrored. It clings nicely to her shape and has a low cut collar. Underneath that she wears a short, white denim skirt, reaching to about halfway her thighs. A large black belt runs around it, more for decoration than for any useful applications. As for shoes, she wears leather sandals with a soft, beige ankle cast. To finish it all off, she wears a few accessories. A watch with a wide black leather bracelet is seen on her left wrist. While her right wrist is adorned with various colorful bands, memoir's of her college days. She has a magnetic clip-on for her glasses, turning them into shades. She carries her laptop in a light blue shoulder bag, adorned with a cluster of colorful pins and badges she has acquired over the years.
Cold Despite her name, she does not really enjoy the cold. She wear a thick, black turtle neck sweater, which she usually uses to bury her chin in, in order to warm up a little. She wears dark blue, denim skinny jeans under that, giving her an almost comical appearance, as the sweater makes her look bigger than she really is. Black sneakers are worn under that. Any accessories she might be wearing are hidden under the thick layers of clothing. The laptop bag is black, with thick sides to prevent most of the cold to get in.
She has a long, dark beige penny coat with a (fake) fur collar. The coat reaches to just below her knees and is kept close by a long row of buttons. She also wears a long, lighter beige scarf with this, often wrapping it around the lower part of her face if there's a lot of wind.
Business She doesn't have anything in the likes of a real business suit, but she has some fancy clothing she uses for special occasions. Starting off with a simple white shirt with a low cut collar. Above that she wears a soft gray, sleeveless vest. Its held closed by a single button near the breasts. She wears a black skirt, reaching to just above the knees. Underneath that she wears dark stockings and black high heels. As for accessories, she usually wears slightly slimmer trimmed glasses, to give her a somewhat more professional look. It's also the only time when you'll find her wearing a necklace. It's a long, silver necklace with no pendant of any kind. She uses the same black laptop bag as with the winter outfit.
Personality: Sno is a bit of a hermit, she doesn't enjoy large groups of people or any new people for that matter. She spends most of her time in her apartment, where she works on various jobs for companies as a designer. But once she warms up to you, she can be quite a handful. As her two friends, Jenny and Ahmed have already discovered (see Relations for more). But getting to know her is tricky as she's very distant.
However, there is one rather curious turning point. During her college years, she sought out the school psychologist in hopes to find some way to get over her fear of meeting new people. The school psychologist, a woman in her late 40's going by the name Miranda Larssen, tried to help Sno in becoming more sociable, but it had little effect. She proposed a simple task, one day, let all those fears go. Act like you're someone else, a roleplay if you want. It was still a difficult task, and if it hadn't been for the constant support of Jenny, Sno probably wouldn't have made it. Sno made these little outings a release valve, a way of venting all the build up stress. Soon, this turned into a monthly ritual. She went out, met new people and had a really good time. And after the night, she'd turn back to her old self, like some strange, modern Jackyll and Hyde. As she grew older, these outings started to get a more mature approach as well. She would often scour bars, with the sole purpose of finding a one night stand. She still does this every month. If you were to ask her about it, she'd say it's a reward for a month's hard work.
If you can manage to get on her trusted side, she'll be a warm and friendly person, ready to do whatever it is you need. She's very loyal, and perhaps even a bit clingy, towards those that she considers friends.
Relations: Family - Her parents still life in North Bend. She keeps periodic contact with them, using either the phone or email.
Jenny Larssen - Best friend. They both started art college at the same time, both being from a small town. Being overwhelmed by the sheer size of the city as well as its fast paced culture, they sought comfort with each other. They both made it through college, supporting each other wherever it was needed (In Sno's case, Jenny recommended her that she should seek out the school's psychologist, her mother.). Jenny currently works for a designer studio in New York. They still keep in contact, often daily, through phone and email. Jenny wants to convince Sno into returning to New York and join the studio.
Ahmed Ersoy - Best friend. Sno and Ahmed met when they were both working on the same assignment. They got off on an interesting start, with a heated Photoshop vs Illustrator argument. The statement "opposites attract" couldn't be more true for these two. While neither is willing to admit the other's preferred program is better, they still work together from time to time if the workload is too much for just one person to handle. Ahmed is hoping to start an actual designer studio, and has dropped a few hints with Sno, who has so far remained oblivious about it.
Ambitions: What she really wants, is to become a world famous illustrator. Who's work can be seen on every street corner, from billboards to simple packaging. Though an animator on a well known show would be fun as well, but much less feasible to attain, as her skills in that area are lacking.
Appearance: The first thing that you will notice about Sno, and where she got her namesake from, is her stark white hair. She was born this way, just like her mother. The other remarkable feature are her eyes. She has a genetic "deformity" called heterochromia, which causes her iris's to have different coloration. The outer circles of her iris's are a bright blue, complimenting her white hair very well. While the inside of her iris is of a coppery orange, surrounding her pupil like a band of fire. People have often asked if her hair was dyed, or if she wore colored contact lenses (despite the fact that she's already wearing glasses).
Physically she is pretty average. She's about 5'5" has a slim build with a pleasant hourglass figure, filling out a C cup. Her skin is pretty pale, which in combination with her hair and eyes give her a somewhat ghostly appearance.
Likes: Art and anything associated, vectors most prominently. Cartoons. As a vector artist, she likes to keep up to date on styles, often she can find interesting inspiration from cartoons. Her MacBook Pro. Her workstation and dearest possession. All her work was made on that thing, all safely backed up on external drives in her apartment. She never leaves her home without it. Her moleskin sketchbook. Inspiration can strike you at the weirdest moments, having easy access to a sketchbook is important. Smoking, a filthy habit, but its relaxing. Indie music, she has what you might call an "elitist" taste in music, believing that her musical taste is superior to everybody else's.
Dislikes: Large crowds or meeting new people. People who believe Photoshop is better than Illustrator. Violence, mostly because she's afraid of hurting people, or getting hurt herself. Mainstream music, or just regular radio. Bugs, this is not a fear, but a dislike.
Fears: Speaking towards a large crowd, presentations etc. Being in the spotlights. Dying alone and unloved, its what prompted her visit to the psychologist in the first place.
Trinkets: As mentioned before, her MacBook Pro and sketchbook, both kept safely in her shoulder bag. Perhaps not a trinket, but her glasses. Thick rimmed, square glasses. Obviously she cant go anywhere without them.
Money: 120
Foraging Skill: 10
Directional Sensibility: 14
Background/Circumstances: North Bend is a small town, really small. During the 2010 census it was estimated that there were 5731 citizens. However, the town has one rather special feature. It is home to a Nintendo production factory, where they produce the consoles. Sno's father is the director of this factory.
It made it so Sno always had the newest console at home, all the way to the very first. It is how she developed a taste for digital design. She never was much of a gamer, preferring to look at the graphics rather than actually play the games.
After finishing school, she said to herself that it was time to finally take her dreams of working in the digital design world seriously. With the help of her parents, she applied for the New York art Institute and got accepted. This is where she first met Jenny Larssen, another girl from a small town just like her. They clicked from the start and worked together on nearly every assignment.
She finished the Art Institute at the age of 23 and quickly moved to Samhein after that, hoping to hit it big there. She currently inhabits a small, 5th floor apartment in the winter district, where she works as a freelance designer. Her field of expertise lies in logo design, product packaging and webdesign. She hasn't made much of a name for herself yet, so assignments are usually small and don't pay that much.
