I prefer not getting too specific on powers, as that tends to lock usage up with specific uses, where I prefer a more improv style of usage. The Force as seen in the movies can do a great many things in multiple directions.

Numerating the ways your powers can be used is more for video games where that's needed.

the personality thing I'll work on. I figured it was a bit short, but I was looking towards the backstory and motivations parts to shore it up a bit.

PS: want me to repost it or just edit the one?

Ho-ly sheet I am going to be busy this week. Unfortunately it looks like this weekend yields the highest probability of me getting a CS up, sorry. If the RP gets up and running before that, I will join if it is still possible to DX

Re-editing it is fine. Fair enough on account of the powers. :)

You kidding?

I was hoping someone would make a scruffy looking nerf herder for the team. And an orphan too, I love him <333

Welcome aboard ya scoundrel.

EDIT: And before I forget, Arch's character is accepted too.

Actually I totally disagree on powers/abilities, just because in the movies they are used in multiple directions doesn't mean it's improv, each style is focussed because a Jedi/Sith must be focussed otherwise they wouldn't be what they are. Hell even characters like Mace Windu and Yoda are focussed characters even if they seem varied in the movies. Yoda is a master of the Ataru style while Mace Windu is creator of the Vapaad style which is a more balanced form of Juyo which tends to be agressive. As for actual force powers yes you can be a bit more varied but you can at least explain that you are proficient in various types such as lightning of levitation, can your body survive stuff other could not without the force? Can your character move unlike other because of the force? These are things you need to explain. [End Rant]

Did you read my CS? Namely the part at the end where I did fill in those sections?

I don't want to fill out a listing of everything she MIGHT be able to do with the force. Not only would it be exhaustively long, but it would be nowhere near complete, as in game I'm most likely going to come up with numerous ways of doing things that I wouldn't have thought of before.

So, I covered the basics of what Her powers are, namely, she has basic telekinesis, Shoots lightning, and jumps around all crazy like we've all seen Jedi do.

A few things Jedi/Sith have shown in quantity, I don't feel it necessary to enumerate those. Namely the sensing things part, which if she was anything special I would mention it, but she's not special when it comes to those, so she has just normal Force user super senses.

She can heal in TOR, but that's a necessary game function for an MMO and I don't use it all that much anyway. So here, she doesn't have it at all.

And if there's one thing I hate the most about lists like that, it's their tendency to foster "Oops, you can't do that! It's not on your sheet!"

Not to mention causing "Calling Your Attacks" syndrome. Where instead of giving a proper explanation of what's going on in a given attack, they'll just have their character say the attack name and expect people reading to fill in the gaps with your basic descriptor off the character sheet.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

EXAMPLE:
Kachku raised her outstretched hands, and lightning leapt from her fingertips, searing across the intervening distance to a republic trooper, capturing him in a cage of lightning that sizzled his flesh before sending him flying back past his fellows, who skidded to a halt before diving out of the way.

Kachku shot Force Lightning at the soldiers, hitting one with it and blasting him into his fellow troopers.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

PS: It's been re-editted Sam4books

Agreeing with Arch. Focus and limitations should be explained when using something like the force.
All Jedi's have shortcomings.
I did it actually. In a paragraph for each and it didn't take me long at all.
That's just laziness.

^^That is what I meant, just because they have names doesn't mean you can't explain them. Yes you can fry a guy with lightning but for how long? Yes you can levitate stuff but how heavy and how long? This is what I wanna know.

Okay... Finally, can get on for a bit.

Interested, and thinking of making a smuggler or something similar. Main idea is he has a ship, which has an AI, and it can use mobile platforms to follow the guy along like a little floating smart-ass that gets him shot at. But gonna hold off on a CS until my net has been stable more regularly.

Kinda (geek)squealed when I saw the thread, too. Been wanting something with Star Wars lately. XD

I'm kinda agreeing with Rayven here.

I imagine Jedi are given at least a few classes in each skill, it would be like school. I know a little geography, history, english but I specialise in other subjects.

Like, all Jedi have a good jump, like three of four metres in the air, but the jedi who specialise in it can jump up like 20 metres or something. All Jedi are fast, but the Jedi who specialise in force speed can sprint 20 second miles or something.

Perhaps people should put down force powers they know, and force powers they specialise in?

Not all jedi have a good jump at all, those who use Ataru or Juyo tend to have it as the form calls for it. Force speed just allows running movement to be increased by using the force to move quickly, this cannot be applied to general movement. I just suggest description like Eward or Snaffles have in that it's not just a list because that tells us nothing about how the character uses such power.

See? Basically one of the most commonly known ones, and force sense is universal too. I imagine a lot of training goes into a lot of force training, such as mind tricks or force throw, etc.

Been mulling over concepts since the thread was posted, just trying to narrow it down.

One question. If i do play a jedi/sith can i use a duel phase lightsaber?

That just backs up what I said actually, yes they can force jump but with less skill than others. This all depends on the Lighsabre form they use. Sith/Jedi need to be focussed as that's what their training is all about because without focus they lack strength in the force.

Yeah, that's fine. Don't worry.

Btw, just heads up folks, one of you will most likely lose your ship throughout the "Prologue", so look alive men.

I would consider four metres in the air to be a good jump, so no, I did read my own quote Fummo.

What I'm pointing out is that most Jedi can use force jump. Just not as well as others which is what I was trying to get across in my original point which was that while each jedi may excel in certain areas, they should still have a basic knowledge in certain other force powers. Such as force jump.

Like Eward would specialise in force jump, meaning he can jump up to 5X metres in the air, whilst a Jedi who doesn't specialise in it can only jump X metres high.

Battle meditation is under the list of "do not use" for obvious reasons, unless you're a master.

And Quinny, for a Jedi, a four meter jump might as well make you a cripple. Certain Jedi have certain abilities that they excel in, the same with the Sith. Midichlorian count has something to do with it. That's why Anakin was said to be so powerful, except he fucked things up when he became more machine than man. Cybernetics are one of the few things that can handicap a Jedi. While it does enhance life and aim, it prohibited Vader from using Force Lightning, a power the Sith are notorious for. He relied mostly on Force Choke, which is a power he excelled in, and stretched the limits beyond what's normal for a dark Jedi. Fummo's character excels in healing and telekinesis, but may be handicapped in more physical Force Powers like Force Jump and Speed. Arch's character on the other hand excels in those aspects, and is terrible at healing or creating barriers around himself.

It's not what you can DO.

It's what you're GOOD AT that matters. And that's what Fummo and Arch are trying to explain.
