Do you guys think this will do anything? That this will mean anything?
I mean, wikipedia is surely important to everyone, but I personally see this move as effective as those idiots wearing guy fawkes masks camping out of the congress, but then again i don't have the brains of most thinkers here, i'd like to read some more educated opinions than mine.

I think if the other major sites were to black out during work hours it would really make a point to the people that use them. People don't really care about a subject unless it impacts them or makes their lives inconvenient.

I don't even go to Wikipedia everyday, so I won't be bothered. But the point isn't about me, is it?

13 new Senators already declared they'll oppose PIPA(protect IP act) after yesterday's stunt, including former sponsors of the bill.

Here is the full list of new opponents. An * indicates a former co-sponsor.

* Roy Blunt (R-MO) *
* John Boozman (R-AR) *
* Scott Brown (R-MA)
* Ben Cardin (D-MD) *
* John Cornyn (R-TX)
* Jim DeMint (R-SC)
* Orrin Hatch (R-UT) *
* James Inhofe (R-OK)
* Mark Kirk (R-IL)
* Jeff Merkley (D-OR)
* Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)
* Marco Rubio (R-FL) *
* Olympia Snowe (R-ME)

So yes, it had an effect. Whether it'll be enough to stop SOPA and PIPA is another matter, but it had an effect, it's undeniable.

I'm actually quite impressed how Silicon Valley is lobbying against this, they're doing a pretty good job. 2 months ago it seemed like a given both bills would pass, now they're pushing for Obama to veto it.

Also, yesterday I was browsing wikipedia to look up dates about this guy: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lajos_Kossuth

And turns out, because I have NoScript installed, wikipedia was perfectly browsable. Didn't even have to use the google cache or press the escape key. Didn't even find out wikipedia was part of the black-out stunt, until I've read it in the news.

P.S. "Pipa" means "cunt" in Polish.
