Frontier - Wildlands - A little outside town.Chris clicked his tongue as he hid behind the tree. He'd spent the last two hours creeping deeper into this little acre of land. Apparently the little nearby town had been having some trouble with the shrubbery lately, earth found on broken down doors, leafs in empty beds, broken branches in run-down homes, etc. Worst place for it really, an insolated lonely town surrounding by unmapped, untamed woods, perfect place for an insane necromancer to set up shop though with a fetish for biology and experimentation though. The reason he'd been going so slowly lately towards that little shack in the centre of this area was because, if he ran in, random trees tried to take a bite out of him. He was
reasonably sure the one he was pressed up against wasn't alive...undead, whatever, if only because it hadn't tried to eat him yet, not great logic to rely on but short of breaking it in two, there wasn't any ways he could be sure. Plus, being 6 foot 6, white as a ghost, having blood red hair and looking like a cyborg didn't make good camouflage in a forest. Thankfully the trees were stupid as hell on their own, tending only to react to sudden movement. The only animal he'd seen since he got deep in here was a grumpy-looking hedgehog. Probably wondering where the heck everyone else was and whether or not he hadn't been invited to a party or something. Very suspicious creatures hedgehogs.
Anyway, back to work. He could just hear humming in the distance, from the smells that were making his nose tingle and causing him to fight against sneezing, probably her own little herb garden full of whatever other biological abominations she'd created. He crept forward, his bare feet taking about twenty seconds per footstep, just to be careful he didn't hit any branches, god, it was hard to fight against the instinct to just rush for her and finish this quickly.
I'm going to take a loooong bath after this. he thought, fondly looking forward to the moment he could wash all this woodland filth he'd spread all over himself, in case this necromancer had a sensitive nose like him. He had to finish this quickly too as he'd turned most of his machinary off, he couldn't risk any sudden "whirring" noses or the injections jabbing him at an important moment. He could see her now, she looked young and was bobbing from side to side and cooing at her plants, it would have been quite sweet until you noticed the plants were snapping hungrily at her and she was dropping fingers into their ravenous maws.
Shame she has to look so young. he thought as he stared at the red-cloaked woman, there was no way she was a girl, probably just kept herself looking young somehow, damn magicians.
The skin on his hands began to stretch out as underneath, his hands began to turn into claws, the skin being pulled taught against the black...whatever the hell it was, ivory or something, and then bubbled away as the toxins started seeping from the black claws. He tensed, and then paused. He then looked at the tree his hand was on and the smoke coming from it as the toxins ate at it.
Pleasedon'tbeacarnivorousundeadtreePleasedon'tbeacarnivorousundeadtreePleasedon'tbe- He stopped thinking this as a hole broke open in the tree to reveal a long, dry purple tongue with rows of broken shards of wood as teeth and a long, dry and dusty screech echoed through the forest.
...Fuck. Chris said as every other tree around him opened up it's mouth and started screeching too, a whole symphony of undead, hungry howls for flesh echoing throughout the forest. He could hear that bitch's high-pitched chuckling too in the distance. He tentatively took his hand off the black scorch-mark on the angry tree's bark as glowing green cracks broke open above it's mouth and glared at him. It's branchs growing thorns and cracking as they began to move towards him.
Yep...Fuck.
