Canson and Strathmore are brands of good quality drawing paper. He was making recommendations to you as to what kind of paper to get. They are both pretty nice.

The better paper you get the more it can hold.
In your case you'll be able to lay down alot more color.
Look for something above 70lb.

Also, as for coloring/lining, for what you're aiming for (anime) I would probably recommend...

1. Inks (acrylic is good for strong, bright colors. I like Dr.Martins and Ink!)
2. Markers (Copics are the best, but they are VERY expensive. You might want to get something cheaper first. And no, not those five dollar packs from walmart.)
3. (lining pens) I like prismacolor liner pens.

These are just suggestions. Don't be scared to splurge, it's worth it.

I'll be honest, your better with colors than what I am, that's for sure

You should also see other Artist's ways to do something, but only little stuff first and then go big, but I recommend to keep practicing on the body features and the measures so something won't be too long, small, or big.

I learned to draw from continues drawing and looking at photos and other drawings and saw how they did it... I didn't entirely copy the Artist's style, just studied one small step and learned it, later moving on to the other step.

But I mostly just learned by myself.

I don't want to sound insulting but you need to work harder.
Please learn anatomy and proper proportions and then adapt that to the style you want.

I mean fleshing out the character first and then drawing the clothes over it.
To put is simply I think one of your characters is a girl.
I shouldn't have to think that.

You might also want to begin the drawing as a stick figure, draw it lightly though. You could put the stick figure in the position you want the drawing or character to be in.

Then you could flesh him out as Morpheus said, everything should be drawn lightly in order to erase something without leaving the previous trial of the pencil. Finally you could add the clothing and design it in any way you want. Giving you some better results.

Although the stick figures you use for art do not look similar to those that many draw, they have a bit of a difference on them.

Horizontal line "A line that is sideways."

It has a horizontal line on the bottom of the neck of the stick figure and in the very sides you add the arms also in stick figure.
And it also has a horizontal line on the bottom of the body and then you add the legs in the side.
