Well the name "Tokyo Magika" spoofs both Madoka and Tokyo Mew Mew. So you are correct in the sense that they planted a Madoka reference.

But the episode was not an "homage" to Madoka(if you think that, you have small reference pools), nor CCS(so my prediction was incorrect, too). They spoofed the entire Magical Girl genre, with references too:

Sailor Moon(crystal make up)
HeartCatch PreCure(Trap Satoko's costume)
CCS(Rika's staff )
either Nanoha or Popotan(Trap Satoko's hammer) etc

The name was pretty much the only reference to Madoka you could see in it.

What was spoofed the most was probably Tokyo Mew Mew. "Magical Girl Rika's" costume, "nipah nipah" powers etc.

Have you watched Higurashi? Because the "company" that Takano was working for was named "Tokyo".

I have, but like 2-3 years ago, so I admit I didn't remember that detail.

Still Rika's costume is very definitely Tokyo Mew Mew.

Maybe this'll help:
http://www.mangastream.to/rosario-vampire.html (online reader 1st series)
http://www.mangastream.to/rosario-vampire-season-2.html (online reader 2nd series)
http://www.bakabt.com/140215-rosario-vampire.html (torrent 1st series only)

I don't read Ninja Girls so I don't know how up to date it is but(seems like it's the entire series though):

I started watching gunslinger girl. I didn't think I would like it but I find it endearing. Kind of reminds me a bit of Noir with some slice of life thrown in the mix.

I alos watched Rin and if you like immortal snuff films you will like this one.

Jay's a huge fan of it. Although in his case more of the manga.

I should give it a shot. Madhouse did the 1st season, so I guess it should be a worthy adaptation. It actually aired on tv here, but I didn't have time to watch it back then.

Heard a lot of good about it.

Season 2 and OVAs on the other hand seem to have bad reputation. For being unfaithful to the manga and having a low budget.

I need some suggestions, as I am fresh out of anime to watch. If you guys could look at some of my favorite anime, and give me some suggestions based on my tastes, that'd be awesome.

Elfen Lied
Clannad and After Story
Welcome to the NHK
Higurashi
Gunslinger Girl
Kino's Journey
Monster
Spice and Wolf
Black Lagoon
Puella Magi Madoka Magica

I like largely Seinen stuff. Hell, I'm not commanding anyone to give me suggestions, but if anyone doesn't mind, that would be awesome.

It's kind of hard to give suggestions without knowing what you've seen, deadman wonderland is gruesome but good. It may be a bit much for you.

If you like Higurashi, you could try Umineko and Ookami Kakushi.

High School of the dead is also decent. I never saw witchblade and Gantz was just boring.

Yeah. Dubbing... :|

@Zeph: Yeah, I tried watching Gantz and the only thing that was "enjoyable", was the gore.

I just suggested it because of the gore, to be honest. I never did get to episode 2.

It's Shounen. The guy made it a point to explain he prefers Seinen, in other words more mature stuff.

I doubt he would like it based on what he enjoyed. It's why I never ask for recommendations on the Internet, people far too often ignore your preferences and just promote their personal favorites.

If Yog-Sothoth ever comes back to read this:
Kaiba
Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha
Serial Experiments Lain
And the current Fate/Zero

Would all probably suit his taste.

I did come back, as I do a bit of lurking on this forum. Anyway, I checked your suggestions, and thoroughly enjoyed them. It's hard, finding anime suited to my tastes, and you have hit the bullseye. By the way, any of you heard of Katawa Shoujo?
