Samuel, a Hacker with a few Tricks

Samuel had been cheerfully sitting in his chair, spinning it from time to time and tinkering with his own handgun. So far it could shoot a single stun round, and proceed to fire normal shots. He closed it up and nodded, grinning. That was good enough for now. He glanced up at the screen adn sighed. Nothing was happening out in the city, but maybe in the building? He glanced at the map of each floor, moving from his own spot down. Each floor gave more and more disappointment, until one of the bottom floors. There was something off about the screen. Part of it wasn't showing the slight variances that it should. He tapped a few keys, and frowned as he saw the source of the problem. Another hacker. He picked up his gun and placed it against his side, spinning his chair as he left the room. It was time to go and have a little fun with the intruders while his team was away. "Oh joy, I can test out the guns new features on someone! I do hope they're still alive with all the troops wandering around down there... Quiet a rowdy bunch..." He ran down the hall, moving towards the stairs and grinning happily.

Joseph cracked his neck. "Four guards? No problem. You might want to wear this." He held out his hands and three re-breathers appeared. He handed one to her, gave one to his more physical companion, and put the last on his face before holding up his hand in the air. "It's about to get extremely hard to breathe." He concentrated and the air at first grew stale, then stagnant. Soon, all the breathable air around them had dissolved into a gas too thin for anyone to get any oxygen from. He opened the door and let all of the fresh air enter the hallway and be dissolved as well. He wondered how long the guards could hold their breath.

Stealth, Schmealth

The distorted giant had to take a deep breath after he and the couch went flying. He winced as he looked at the victims of his attack, hoping that perhaps they would turn out as close to alright as they could. He didn't mean to overdo it. Turning to see his two panicked companions, he suddenly grew quite embarrassed and gave a little wave.

"...er...oops." he managed to mumble as he watched the smaller two talk. Noting the exasperation on Joesph's face, he gulped and mumbled another 'Sorry'.

Considering Gecko was the one who knew the place, his eye naturally trained to follow her. As the two smaller mercs ran down the hallway, he barreled down as well, until the hacker stopped, at which point, he did as well.

"...Right. Eh-heh...well, when in doubt..." He slowly winded up his right arm, but before he could do much more, he found himself with a re-breather in his hand, and subsequently, on his face. With a quiet groan as his arm creaked, Gael slowed it back down and followed the two, keeping watch for any other major threats. He kept glancing back and forth, and squared his shoulders as to provide maximum cover for the other two.

   Trait: Warped Bulk, 4 Yin, 2 Yang (six details)   

~Cytek HQ, Lower Floors~

While the procedure of thinning the air took a while, the effect were quite immediate. At first they could hear of grunts and exclamations from around the corner, followed by gasping and wheezing, finally ending with the bumps of the bodies hitting the floor. Gecko stared with eyes wide at Joseph, while pressing the rebreather close to her face.

"I'd heard about your powers..." she spoke hesitantly. "But they're really something, aren't they?"

She took a look through the wall again, and then lead the little group around the corner. At the end of the corridor, beyond the unconscious guards, were an elevator, and Gecko promptly pressed the button for the lowest floor after they had all entered, and it quickly closed the doors, whirred and propelled downwards.

"Well, so far so good, right?" she said, trying to sound optimistic, despite the significant amount of trouble they had already had. Right as finished uttering those words, the elevator doors opened again.

"You are en-tering a restric-ted area. Please iden-tify yourself." an obviously synthesised voice commanded, originating from a hovering, circular robot only a few feet away. It shot a blue light towards them, already searching for their eyes. A little further away, mounted to the ceiling, a rather nasty looking automated turret could be seen.

"Gotta stop jinxing..." Gecko could be heard muttering in the back.

   Joseph: [2,5]/[2,1,1,1], 1 yin, 4 yang.
Gael: [1,2,4,1]/[5,2], 3 yin, 1 yang.
No chi loss, threat rating down to 6.

As Gael realized just what was happening, his eyes widened and he clenched his fists. He quickly followed his two companions down the hallway, into the elevator, grunting in discomfort as he stuffed in. A couple 'Excuse me's later, he had managed to waddle in, trying to stick to the back to give the other two some room.

As the elevator started the move, he leaned back against the wall, trying to steel himself against the fall. His arms went to the sides of the elevator, as he shut his eyes tightly. "Gah. Hate these things..." he mumbled, sweat beading on his forehead. His muscles tensed, he had an overwhelming feeling of dread as the elevator stopped- but he was at least able to catch himself as the elevator jerked to a stop.

Watching the doors with a mixture of dread and expectation, he was not shy to admit he was freaked out. The color in his face drained as his heart rate surged. "Get behind me!" He barked quickly to the other two as he went into action. Pushing himself off the back of the elevator he shot forward to the front of the room, though not outside the safety of the elevator itself, and with all his might, he grabbed the retreating doors and pulled them as shut as he could, adjusting his hands so that he didn't crush them. Likely, the drone might have had some sort of identification process- in which case, as long as he didn't attack it. "J-j-just some janitors here! Nothing to worry about!" He redoubled his effort to close to door as fast as possible.

As soon as he felt it was safe, he turned his head to the other two as best he could. "Quick, open the top hatch or something, sneak up on it! I don't know how long these doors'll hold! Use my shoulders or something if you gotta!"

- Mat's Apartment -

Mat watched Ken go, silently hoping he'd turn around and change his mind, he didn't though. Of course. Mat took a deep breath as the door shut, and turned to face the girl. He exhaled slowly as he wandered over to the fridge, took out a fruit and placed it in front of her. "I just have to get my stuff and then we can go. So just…eat that and stay there." he instructed, spreading his hands before turning to look for his socks. Mat sat on the bed to pull them on, spotting his holster as he did so. He buckled that on and put his blaster back where it belonged, before slipping into his vest.

When Mat turned back to the girl she was quietly munching the fruit, juice smeared around her mouth. Mat chuckled. He pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped her face. "All right, we're ready to go! C'mon, Tina." He held out his left hand and she moved of tentatively. When they go into the hall Mat was mentally reviewing the instructions. Sector D-17, great. Ridiculously shady area for a safe house. He walked into the shaky lift and mashed the button that said "B".

Soon Tina was sitting in the passenger seat as Mat's speeder whizzed through the murky skies. The "sun" was slowly starting shine as they made their was to D-17.

*Elevator*

Joseph nodded his head but realized he wasn't really tall enough to open the hatch himself. "Gecko, get over here! I'll give you a boost to open the hatch!" He knelt down and linked his hands together to form a place for Gecko to step on. He wasn't very strong but he doubted it was going to cause much trouble. Gecko didn't look that heavy, after all.

Indeed, Gecko's lithe body was not very heavy even for Joseph, and she quickly set off his hands, opening the hands and swinging herself onto the roof of the elevator almost in a single movement.

"Oooh, what have we got here..." she muttered to herself, followed by the sound of electronics whirring. About half a minute passed, during which they could hear the identification robot repeating it's question twice, before being suddenly interrupted and followed by a metallic thumb. Gecko jumped effortlessly back into the elevator.

"You can open the doors again now. I shut down the eye bot." she said in with a confident grin. "We're actually pretty close now. Just straight through this corridor and the next room should be it. Might be some guards, but I should hope we've passed most of the security by now."

   Joseph: [1,3,4], 1 yang. Lost a point of chi but regained it for using weakness.
Gael: [6,6,6]/[6,3,4], 2 yang. 1 chi chi lost.
Threat rating down to 3.

Mat landed the craft and disembarked, holding the girls hand. His eyes were moving right away, casually assessing the surroundings. He shook his head, really not a place for a child. Quickly checking his blaster, he set off towards the address Ken had supplied. Mat had an uneasy feeling, which he tried to shake off, as they moved deeper into the dilapidated sector. He absently rubbed the weathered coin which hung from a leather thong around his neck.

Forward, Ho!

Groaning, Gael slumped to his knees as he released the doors and let them open. His breath was heavy as he closed his eyes to gather his composure. All this stress felt like he was lugging twice his body weight, and after all that running, squeezing and straining, he needed a moment. Sweat beaded down his forehead as he pondered.

"Just...I'll catch up. Don't go too far, but I'll catch up. Just need a second. Maybe a minute." He took a few breaths before slowly putting his hand on his knee and pressing down gently, trying to push himself up.

With great effort, he clumsily lurched forward, one foot plodding in front of the other before he got back into his stride. Pulling his arms up, he kept pace as best he could, following close behind. Nodding to the other two, he let it be known that he was ready. Adrenaline was rushing through his system once more.

   Trait: Sluggishness- 2 Yin, 4 yang (due to his fatigue, I see his offense being lower priority)   

Lucy Amthyst Wilkinson: Safe and Sound?

Lucy risked a peek, looking around if she could see anyone. She was afraid of getting caught because people had thought her to be a surger before and didn't want to hurt anyone, though the fight she got in with the masked man was tough on her. She wanted to get home and sleep for a few more hours before heading out. Seeing nobody nearby, she leapt out of the dumpster, glad to be away from the smell, and began limping home again. She just hoped she didn't pass the men from the chopper again.

Mat muttered to himself, remembering the address. There were a few less than reputable looking people around, but it was too early for most of them. He kept the girl close as the traversed the streets in the morning light. Mat's eyes were alert as they moved through the slum, working their way toward the address, not that it was easy to tell what addresses were in this part of town. Fortunately, Mat knew his way around, more or less, and soon they were approaching the building. It was an abandoned, run down looking, warehouse. Out front stood a rather large brutish figure. "Time to toss the dice." Mat muttered as he walked over. He sidled up and started a conversation, casually leading off with the code phrase.

Tacey - Errol's Apartment

She had learned long ago to block out Errol's sarcastic remarks and read between the lines. It was true that it was a bit odd that her boss would call her through the telephone, especially if it was such a high risk package. But Rose probably knew what she was doing, right? Strangely enough the fact that this was a high risk job, didn't bother Tacey. She knew how to handle herself in a tight situation, which was most likely the reason Rose picked her.

Tacey moved about anxiously, it had been a while since she had been able to go for a good run and all this... well, whatever it is a surge is made up from, felt like it had been building up. So when the small package finally came, after only a few short minutes, which probably meant that Rose already had a runner standing nearby, she could almost feel her heart skip a beat in excitement. It was a small, green package. She had been doing this little runners gig for a while now, but never once had she broken the code and opened a package. Still, didn't mean she couldn't wonder or guess. But this thing, it was just a small, green box. She couldn't even tell whether it had electronics inside or not. It was kinda disappointing that such a supposed high risk job would involve such a plain looking thing.

When Errol advised her to put on her "uniform," as he liked to call it, she gave him a vacant stare. He knew pretty damn well that she didn't like it when he called it that. It was merely a tool for her survival. She moved towards the bathroom, where the suit, if you could even call it that, was hidden in a secret compartment - Errol's idea.

She slipped into the suit, which really wasn't more than a glorified bathing suit, and looked at herself in the mirror with mixed emotions. On the one hand, she hated how revealing it was, it was only marginally better than parading around naked. It left rather little to the imagination. But on the other hand, she couldn't help but feel a certain amount of pride about what she was seeing. She still remembered how she looked when she only just arrived here, a walking skeleton at best. And now she had the bust size that would make any woman jealous. Still though, she would never ever flaunt her body about, she simply didn't have the guts for that.

Moving back to the living room, making sure to avoid eye contact with Errol, she got a track suit out of the closet and quickly covered herself up again. With a sigh of relief she turned to face Errol and the little package. She picked up the package and rotated it a bit, looking at it from different angles. What could be in it that was so important? And why the news building? That didn't seem like a logical place for a drop point. But she trusted Rose, who had never shown any sign of wanting to betray her or anything.
