Muslin of McCall's pattern M5138 with sleeve attached on wrong arm (cuff opening should be at the back of the shirt. Oh, well, this is why we make muslins!) to test fit.

Should I use "toile"? Might mix that up with Toile de Jouy.

Mock-up?

Thankee. ^_^

And for reference, ze flower is a night-blooming Selenicereus grandiflorus, a.k.a. Queen of the Night. This particular subspecies blooms only one night per flower, so we were really lucky to get to see it while we were down at my mum's.

I lied. I do draw. Just...badly...and not often. This is actually the first thing I've really drawn in...like, 3 years or so.

In-progress picture for my Persona game. Hopefully refining will reduce the level of stench that wafts up from it:

Yes, it is, Mimi! I am doing a dance that someone recognized him, wheee!

Ali >> Bah. You are sweet. I won't call you a liar, but I will say that I need about a metric ton more practice before I can say you're telling the truth. ^_~

Also...I have alluded in certain places to deadlines and the breakage of my wrist/hands...for what reason am I breaking my extremities, you might ask?

Can we say 66,474 stitches of PURE AWESOME?

(There will be more. Including a pair of twisted-stitch rib socks knit in a total of 4 days. Yes. I'm that knitter.)

I was at 60% when I decided to work on it continuously...The last 40% of it (I calculate percentage by number of stitches completed...I make spreadsheets that tell me accurate percentages for the row that I input) took me 4 days of doing nothing but knitting (i.e. no cleaning, cooking, or other large time-consuming activities that I could not knit during aside from sleeping).

Along the doing-nothing-but-knitting line, my deadlines have all been met, and I now share with you the pair of twisted-rib socks that took me only three days to complete:

And my Aeolian shawl, the last 35% of which was finished in two days:

As well as some of the other stuff I worked on for the August deadlines (red does not photograph well!):

Ah, Rumpelstiltskin! I thought you might be referring to that, hehe.

Miller's daughter is said to be able to spin straw into gold, so the king locks her up in a tower and threatens her with death if she doesn't do it. A little gremlin-troll-man-midget thing comes to help and spins the gold for her on three nights for successive trades (necklace, ring, and then the promise of her firstborn child). The king is so impressed that he marries her.

Later, when her child is born, the freakish little man comes back for the baby, and she offers him all of her wealth instead. He makes a deal that if she can guess his name in 3 nights, she can keep her child. She sends someone to spy on him and finds out his name, which is, of course, Rumpelstiltskin.

Another piece of spinning that is in Fairy Tale Lore is Sleeping Beauty, although that is a Spindle wheel and not a flier-led double drive that she pricks her finger on. ^_~

I was thinking Sleeping Beauty myself, where she pricks her finger and falls asleep because it was poisoned or something. I only watched the Disney version though.

1/2 of my dyed BFL spun up thick-n-thin (range is lace through light fingering) and plied with 1 strand of cobweb-weight merino. 300 yards, whee!
