Name: Miranda Elsing
Codename: Whisper
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Appearance: The underfed, wild-eyed telepath of days of old has matured into a (still very short) woman who's taken quite a bit more care with her health. Instead of constantly covering up her malnourished pallor, she now dons a blue-and-black skintight leotard with thigh-high boots and tall gloves, showing off a physique that looks like it takes a lot of time and effort to keep where it is. Her hair, once wildly sheared to lessen the likelihood of her ripping it out, has grown long and is typically pulled back into a ponytail, with a flattering sweep of bang left free. Her hair and eye colors have not changed, both still a deep brown that is striking when paired with her (now more healthily) pale skin tone.

Personality: It is obvious that her capture by Magneto and separation from the rest of the Institute students affected her greatly, made only worse by the resulting events.

No longer a shrinking violet, Miranda is no less farther from the bubbly cheerleader that she was before her powers first manifested. Now, instead of caving under the assault of her telepathic and empathic powers, she has learned to detach herself and analyze the information her brain provides her with in a far more objective and cold manner.

Her stutter is completely gone, and while her voice is not necessarily devoid of emotion, it is certainly far more lacking in the fire it used to have. Whether that is from actual growth and control over her powers or from her tendency to cut short any attempt at a deeper-than-acquaintance-level attachment with anyone is unclear.

History: After everything went down, Miranda spent a year in Genosha, nursing her depression. Practically the only reason she survived (including remembering to eat) was because Cora took it upon himself to take care of her. Finally, though, they was found by one of her old classmates. Jackie had been working to ferry refugees from Genosha away from the mutant kingdom, and at his urging, she and Cora helped him. She was just starting to get some of her real personality traits back when she witnessed Jackie's death. Although they hadn't been close at the Institute, the loss of him (really, the last tie she had with any of her old compatriots...for all she knew, they were all dead now) rocked her to her core.

She fled Genosha with Cora tailing behind her, returning as quickly as she could to the Institute's ruins. Seeing the state it was in did nothing for her fragile psyche, and she sequestered herself until news reached her that the Sentinels were causing wholesale slaughter. Shucking her human name, she emerged from her hiding as Whisper, and has worked since then to save as many lives as she can, helping refugees to flee the robot-controlled territory and coordinating strikes on the enemy where necessary.

She has allowed no one to get close to her. After all, it only hurts worse when people you care for die. Cora knows this tendency of hers all too well from her repetition of the fact that they are not friends, despite him always being around and his penchant for calling her "Cinderella."

Four years ago, she and Cora came across Azunka's base and she had a short reunion with her best friend. Despite the knowledge that Mishap was alive and well, Miranda maintained little contact with her, instead funneling survivors and refugees to Philadelphia, confident that Azunka would take care of them or send them safely further on their way. Miranda was not aware of Azunka's disappearance.

Powers:
  • Telepathy - Miranda's level of telepathic control has increased considerably. While she still cannot block contact with others, she has honed her ability to the point where she can intensify the telepathic bond with multiple people at one time, creating a telepathic web that is sustainable over distances reaching to nearly a mile. She has also developed an ability to harvest specific information from the mind of an opponent, although said opponent must be physically subdued.
  • Receptive Empathy - Emotions accompany the thoughts that Miranda's power picks up.
  • Projective Empathy - This is Whisper's main mode of non-physical attack. She can send an empathic "bolt" of emotion at an opponent. These "bolts" may only be flavored with any emotion that Miranda herself has experienced.
  • Physical prowess - While not a mutant power, Miranda has spent quite a bit of time working out and getting her body to its peak, and she can run and tumble without easily tiring. Under no circumstances can she perform any physical act that is outside the realm of possibility for a human athlete.
NOTE: Miranda must be conscious for any non-receptive powers to be active.

Other: PM sent and approved, yayyy!

Also, Miranda is going to speak in this color, and for the most part will be mind-labeling people according to the color they use to speak with (unless something else seems particularly fitting at the time of choosing).

And that was the first time he died... (Sorry, I couldn't resist the reference). Love the clear detail on how and why she's changed, physically and mentally.

I like what I'm seeing so far guys, and totally looking forward to reading other people's histories whenever they finish them. Just remember that until the IC goes up, you're free to continue altering or adding to your sheet. Also, for the veterans, aside from OKing your powers, you're automatically accepted.

Sadly, I am a Stupid who cannot read, so I will probably be nixing the thing with Jackie, 'cause it doesn't jive with what Ro wrote (which I managed to completely misinterpret somehow, wheeee!).

Actually, can just rearrange it, to line up chronologically, and nix one little bit to make it still work for both our characters. The most of the info can stay the same.

Rearranging may be possible. Check your PMs, hon. Want to make sure we're both on the same page before I actually change anything.

Name: John Allerdyce

Codename: Pyro

Age: 23

Gender: M

Appearance: John's previously short auburn hair has now grown down to his shoulders, with a rather unkempt beard to go along with it. Over the past few years he has gained a fair amount of muscle due to a lot of fighting and exercise with not much else to occupy his time. Naturally he still retains his teal eyes, and stands at 5'9" having already reached his adult height during his time at the X-Institute. During his time in The Resistance, John mostly focused his attire on the sort that would be protective and allow him to move well in combat situations as opposed to anything worn for the sake of appearance such as drab, dark colors as to not stand out, or combat boots that would be able to take a considerable amount of damage before wearing too much.

Personality: John is stubborn, arrogant, and overconfident. If he has an opinion on something he'll defend it intensely, and doesn't react well to condescension toward any of his views or the people he considers his friends. These qualities also make him loyal to those he learns to trust, and he'll fight for them and the things he believes are right. At times he can seem cold or detached, though this is mostly due to his habit of bottling up certain emotions, especially if they're the sorts of emotions that might make a leadership figure seem weak or unqualified.

Despite his occasional brashness, John still knows how to assess situations calmly and rationally when lives are on the line. He's often looked at for leadership due to his ability to set aside fear or uncertainty and do what needs to be done, even during the most dire situations. He dislikes the thought of giving up and would rather die than submit and become a slave to oppressing, genocidal forces.

When appropriate, John still manages to keep a sense of humor, though it leans toward the dry and sarcastic sort.

However the past year of containment has taken a toll on John's emotional health, cracking his hardened exterior somewhat. Though his focus on still one day finding those he cares about keeps his sanity mostly in check.

History: The attack on Genosha had failed, and Magneto had initiated his plan. John never even had the chance to find and rescue his fellow classmates that had been abducted a short time before, leaving him to boil in anger as he bore witness to the awakening of something much worse than mere mind control. As the war broke out, John and many other mutants were essentially given two choices, align with the genocidal Mutant-Prime or go into hiding.

As time went on, the Sentinel reign began to push outward across North and South America. John and a number of mutants and even some humans did their best to hold off any further territory claim by the machines in the northeast United States. Over time, John found himself as the leader of one of the resistance fronts which had apparently labeled themselves as "Wildfire" despite his protests. Despite being a relatively small force, with John's leadership Wildfire managed to repel the Sentinel invasion in that area for some time thanks to the Sentinels never locating the main base of operations underground in New York.

Unfortunately about a year ago the Sentinels inexplicably located the base and brought a full-on assault during the night, overwhelming the small number of mutants and humans remaining there. John was unable to discern how such a thing happened except for the dying comment from one of his allies amidst the battle: "They betrayed us..." The next thing John knew, he had blacked out, only to awaken some time later in a cell guarded by Sentinels. Why they had captured him as opposed to killing him, he didn't know, but now low on numbers and leaderless Wildfire succumbed to the onslaught and the northeastern US became Sector 15. Merely another pointless number in the Sentinel's territorial control.

Over the past year, the Sentinels have refused to give John any sort of information regarding his capture, who had given them information, or even what their plans were with him. The fact that he has been fed and provided with things such as clean clothing prove the Sentinels definitely wish to keep him alive and healthy, but the occasional release into what appears to be a training room where he is encouraged to use his abilities have made John realize that their intentions are likely not just containment.

Powers: Pyrokinesis. John has the ability to intensify, weaken, or mold flame to his will. With focus, John can alter a flame to grow exponentially from its original size as well as augment its temperature to reach up to nearly 2000 degrees Celsius (past the melting point for nearly any metals or elements apart from Tungsten or Carbon) with proper concentration. Over the past few years, John's powers have evolved to the point where he can even modify the density of the flame, allowing it to become a semi-solid state and therefore able to move or carry objects.

However, John can still not create the flame on his own and still requires a catalyst such as a spark, match, lighter or flamethrower.

Other: I left who the other mutants were with John ambiguous so if someone wants to have been a part of his resistance they can. Where he is being held is also up in the air. I have some ideas as to why they would capture him and not outright kill him, but Imenak if you have a particular route you want to take that then feel free because chances are it's more interesting than anything I have in mind.

Name: Casey Crawford
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Appearance: Her skin has a fairly pale complexion, mostly from the fact that since the last six years she spends most of her days inside her garage. Her eyes have a hazelnut color, while her hair, which she keeps around shoulder length, is a color somewhere between dark brown and dark red.
Casey certainly isn't the tallest girl you'll ever come across, standing at a mere 5'5". But what she lacks in length, she amply makes up in bust. Yet strangely enough, she doesn't seem to be aware of that herself.

As for clothing, she really isn't all that picky. You'll always find her wearing miss-matching sets, often too big for her. She'll wear anything, as long as it's practical (practical meaning, having lots of pockets to carry tools around). So shirts, tank tops and 9 out of 10 times cargo jeans.

She's almost always covered in grease stains.

Personality: Casey has a somewhat troubled personality. The past six years have been hard on her, then again, on who hasn't it been? But in Casey's case, she couldn't handle it. Too many bad things happening in a too short time period. Her mind slammed shut and now she's stuck in her own little dream world. She'll still act normal and go around daily business and you can even have a good conversation with her -- if you don't mind listening about all her latest inventions -- but the moment you bring up any major events from the past, she'll get a blank stare in her eyes and she'll either pretend she didn't hear that, or quickly change the subject. She might even just walk away without saying anything.
Thanks to her little dreamworld, she's always in a chipper mood. She's active and quirky and doesn't shy away from helping anybody else. For her, the past 6 years simply haven't happened. She might even be a bit naive and childlike, dangerous traits these days.
She's very huggable, enjoying to express herself in a physical way. She'll even do that to people who don't so much share her joy of hugging.
Also, dont think that just because she lives in her own little world, she doesn't know how to fight. Even her own world knows of conflicts. She's fiercely loyal and would easily give up her life if it meant saving those she loves. "Because that's what a superhero is supposed to do, right?"

History: Casey? Shit son, you had to go stirring up shit like that? Look, if you're really that interested, let me tell you what I know. Don't know the full story, but if if only half the things she whispers in her sleep are true...

Casey was born in the small town of Roslyn, Washington. Yeah, precisely where we are now. Had slightly more citizens back then though, heh, but not that many more. She never left. She lived here with her pa, her mom had died giving birth to her. Her pa said that it was her final gift to Casey, which is why he loved her so much. They were simple folk, you know? Ran a small scrapyard together, not the easiest job, but it paid the bills.

It was pretty clear that little Casey was a mutant, even as an infant she cobbled the weirdest contraptions together. Things no right engineer or mechanic could ever approve of. How Her pa reacted when he found out? Why he felt like the proudest man on the planet, yeah, didn't expect that, did ya? You see, from what I understood, Roslyn's community was pretty forgiving with mutants. Hell, if the stories are true, it could've acted as a example for the entire world! Humans and mutants, living together in... well, near perfect harmony. There were of course a few people who thought mutants had no right to be there, but they were vastly outnumbered by those that didn't care. These 'mutants' were their children, their family.

So Casey had a pretty easy youth -- That might explain why she reacted so heavily towards the later events. She had plenty of friends, both human and mutant. She grew up to be a pretty lady, though she'd rather rummage around in scrap than wear a dress, hehe. She was smart in her own way. At only the tender age of 9 she had already created her first little AI, Lummox. Yeah, that big droid that's always following her. Haha, no, it wasn't always that big. When she made it, it was nothing more than a badly welded together robot, like from the 50's. You know, all square and whatnot. It didn't even have a real AI back then, it only blinked and moved its arms. Her pa would be the one to blame for that name. Heh, poor kid didn't even know what Lummox meant back then.

They had always figured Casey would follow some kind of engineering or mechanic education, you know? I mean, you would probably think the same, right? With a power like her's she could be the best damned engineer this world had ever seen! But they actually found out, that the more she learned about the "laws" of engineering, the less she could actually build. The moment she figured out that logic was essentially her worst enemy, they both gave up their dreams of sending her to college. So she stayed to help her pa with the scrapyard.

One could wonder how the events might have unfolded if she had gone to college. But that's hindsight, and nobody betters from hindsight. At least, that's how I see it. The first attack came when during the time Genosha was founded. What was that man thinking? Holding the world hostage with that goddamn bomb... It did more bad than good. Tensions between humans and mutants were at an all time high, with perhaps an third world war looming over everybody's head. Yet Roslyn prevailed! Sure, it wasn't like the good old days, but there were no riots, no protests, nothing. Doesn't mean the outside world thought the same.

They came in trucks, these 'pro-humanists'. The events are sketchy, but from the few stories I've heard so far it was a slaughter. Men, women and children alike, to them they were all the same. Poor little Casey saw how they butchered her friends, their family. Some tried to fight back, but they were no match for the assailants numbers. Casey ran, back to her pa and the scrapyard, certain that she'd be safe there.

He hid her in the trunk of a car and made her promise him not to come out, until it was quiet out there. She was not to come out, no matter what. With tears on his face he told her he loved her and closed the trunk. Had he done it a minute later, they might've spotted her. They came into the scrapyard, maybe 6 or 7 of them, demanding the mutant girl. He told them to get off his property. Casey could hear it all, how they beat him, how they stabbed him, how they yelled and hollered. But she remained put, she promised after all.

After about half an hour, the Roslyn law enforcement got the situation under control, thanks to reinforcements from nearby Ronald. They drove the invaders out of town, arresting and even killing many of them. When it finally went quiet, little Casey got out of the trunk, clutching Lummox close against her. She could see and smell what had happened to her little world, buildings burning, people yelling and crying in the background. And in the middle of the scrapyard...Well, I think that's when little Casey snapped. If only that was the end of it, but we all know better do we? It's all going downhill from that point.

Everything happened so quickly after that. The human - mutant war, the cataclysm, the SENTINEL project. Roslyn, despite what was happening to the world, kept it's old morals. Mutants weren't any different, they were still family. Casey was brought under the care of the local church. From what I've heard, she hadn't spoken a word since that attack. They thought her broken. And they were right.

Then of course Death Mold happened, what a glorious fuck-up that was. It was the end of human civilization as we knew it. They hit the Washington state fast and hard, wanting to unseat its power quickly. Casey, together with some others, managed to hide in a nearby abandoned mine. They stayed there for days, until finally bringing up the guts to check the outside world again. Roslyn was gone, a pile of rubble. For a second time Casey's world was destroyed, this time far more literal. Out of the few people living in Roslyn, only a handful survived.

But us humans, even mutants, are a lot like cockroaches, are we not? You think us exterminated, but a handful always survives and a handful is all it takes. The Roslyn survivors started to rebuild, underground in the mines, away from prying eyes. They never would've succeeded if it weren't for Casey, she build all kinds of contraptions to make the underground inhabitable. Air filters, water drains, solar powered electricity. All in all, we ain't got it that bad down here, even got fresh water, directly extracted from the ground.

I got here 3 years after the events, by that time Casey was already talking and cheering, occupying all her free time with building on Lummox. We all knew there was something wrong with her, but what could we do? We're not doctors. And in all honesty, she is perhaps the lucky one, she doesn't have to life in the harsh reality. 3 years passed after that and here we are, Casey is now a beautiful young woman of... eeuhm, 23? No, 24 now. How the Sentinels haven't found us in all those years? Well, that's really something I'd rather not think about, it gives me nightmares and all, but it wouldn't surprise me if Casey is behind that. Maybe an inhibitor of some sort? I don't know.

So stranger, whats your story?

Powers: Casey is what you would call a technopath. Her power is a bit difficult to explain, as the limits have yet to be defined. Casey can create devices and machines, that by all means, should not be working. Yet they do. A prime example are the little helper droids she keeps around herself. If anybody else had build them, they would've been nothing more than scrap metal pieced together to look like something resembling a droid.
There are however certain limitations to what she can and can't create. First off, it has to make sense to her. Logic is probably her worst enemy, as long as the machines she built make sense in her mind, they work. The moment she finds out that it shouldn't actually work, they fall apart like they actually should. her personality shields her against this somewhat.
Secondly, they machines need to stay within at least a 50 yard distance from her. Anything venturing outside this circle will find itself reverting back to the scrap it really is.
And third, there is something of a size limit. The exact size isn't exactly measured, but the maximum amount of "mass" she can control at a time would be that of a small van. So don't be expecting giant, city crushing mega robots rolling out of her sleeves.

Power Glove
An over-sized glove which acts as Casey's toolbox. This giant metallic hand is a replicator, Casey can load in blueprints of existing devices and replicate them at any time. However there is a limit to how much it can "rezz", as Casey calls it (she's fascinated by Tron). Lummox for example, would be too much matter for the glove to rezz. If the limit is reached, previous devices will have to be derezzed in order to make room for other devices.

The glove can act as a weapon, in the same sense that a hammer can act as one. It holds no special fighting tricks and simply exists to create matter. Though it can act as a pretty decent blunt weapon.

Current capacity is 6 points.

Lummox - Lummox is a large quadruple droid, that has a lot of similarities with a gorilla. He has large arms, with short legs and walks around on its knuckles. He can lift up to 1 ton. He has a single camera as an eye and has a large protective casing surrounding the important parts. This armor is tough enough to fend off small arms fire, but it's less effective against laser based weaponry. (for a general idea, think DOG from Half Life 2).
Lummox is the only thing left from her past. He started out as a simple little thing, just a toy really, but over the years she build on him, expanded him, upgraded him. Until he even developed his own personality. Even now, Casey continues to build on him. He's a never ending project.
Lummox is very friendly, loyal, and has an intelligent and excitable personality. When provoked, he can become very dangerous to enemies, using his immense strength and weight to smash enemies to the ground or tear them apart. His behavior changes when around Casey, as he becomes friendly and cautious, but still alert for any imminent danger. His protective nature makes him an excellent bodyguard.
He communicates with a series of clicks and clangs, which Casey pretends to understand. In reality it's just Lummox trying to emulate speech, as he was not build with the ability to speak. Casey never really got down to that.

Droids:

Danny or "Firecrackers"
Rezz points: 1
Firecrackers are the main offensive drones Casey uses. They're small, very agile and very fast. They feature 4 spider-like legs with small wheels attached at the ends. This allows them to move at blinding speeds over all sorts of terrain. They're equipped with low caliber machine guns.

They use their superior numbers to surround the enemy, making them good herders and chasers. They're useless against sentinels or other armored enemies.

Background: Danny was a small, energetic kid who used to live in her street. He'd always run around, pretending like he was a sheriff, shooting at the robbers. Danny died during the raid.
Also called Firecrackers because of the distinct sound they make when shooting.

Hannah or "Penetrator"
Rezz points: 6
The Penetrator is the biggest and most advanced drone, aside from Lummox, Casey has. The Penetrator features 4 legs, where the back legs look like that of a locust. It is armed with a high powered railgun, aimed specifically to shoot through the toughest armor. Given the power needed to shoot the weapon, it has the biggest body of all drones. It's the slowest drone in Casey's arsenal. It needs to deploy before it can fire.

Casey specifically designed these as an answer to the sentinels. The Penetrator is powerful enough to punch through the sentinel's heavy plating, allowing it to strike at the sensitive machinery inside. Given that it is a slow moving drone, requires set-up time and has a long reload time between shots, it is best used from great distance. Not particularly effective against "squishy" targets, as the slug will simply blast through them, dealing minimal damage.

Background: Hannah's a friend Casey made in class. She always carried around a slingshot and was quite a good shot with it. So good in fact, that some people wondered if perhaps she was a mutant. This was never confirmed nor denied. Hannah died during the raid.
Named Penetrator because of it's high penetrating capabilities.

Herbert or "Stalker"
Rezz points: 2
The Stalkers were originally made as excavation drones, to help expand the mine. They're bipedal drones that look a lot like miniature versions of Lummox. They're small (think about the size of a small monkey), fast and very adapt at climbing. They don't have forearms, instead they have blades or picks as arms, much like a praying mantis.

Stalkers prefer to strike from unseen angles, following targets until they drop their guard. They pack a lot of power for such small drones and they can easily punch through armor. They don't posses any ranged weaponry, aside from a lunge attack. Can swarm a sentinel and burrow into it by tearing through it's armor. Very effective against "squishy" targets, literally rending them apart.

background: Herbert was always a creepy kid, he'd follow you around all day, waiting until you started talking about a subject he knew something about. Then he'd jump out of his hiding place and either agree with you completely, or he'd completely crush your argument into the ground. Herbert was taken by sentinels, presumed dead.
Named Stalkers because of their sneaky behavior.

Jack or "Bouncers"
Rezz points: 3
The Bouncers are the big brothers of the Stalkers. Where the Stalkers were originally designed for mining, the Bouncers were made to haul heavy equipment around. They're bipedal machine that about the size of a small child. They feature two powerful arms that can lift up to 1800lbs. They're extremely durable, easily shrugging off small arms fire. Not very fast.

Bouncers are the tanks in Casey's arsenal, their durability allows them to get close to the enemy and keep them busy. Their blunt arms can easily knock out most living things, no matter how armored they are. Highly ineffective against sentinels.

Background: Jack was a bully at Casey's school, using his strength to get money out of just about everybody. During the raid he stood up for some kids, buying them valuable time at the cost of his own life. Jack died during the raid.
Named bouncers for their durability.

Melissa or "Host"
Ress points: 5
The Host is the creepiest looking drone Casey has. It has 4 long stilts as legs, making it tower over an average person. Underneath it's main chassis hang a sack filled with hundreds of tiny drones, about the size of a bottle cap. The smaller drones are referred to as Bees. The Host can release all these Bees, much like a beehive, to attack it's intended foe. These Bees contain a small EMP charge, making the Host the bane of every electronic device. The Bees will attach themselves to the target and discharge the EMP. The discharge is very localized, making it safe for other electronic devices in the vicinity.

The Host requires some taking care of, as it's not the fastest drone. Nor is it the most durable. Once in range of a target, The Host will release all Bees to attack it's target. The sheer amount of Bees makes it difficult to defend against. If the Host is destroyed, the Bees will shut down.

Background: Melissa was another mutant Casey knew, but as much as Casey tried to become friends with her, she was only interested in her dolls. Melissa had the uncanny ability to grant life to these dolls. They'd still be mindless, but Melissa used this ability to act out intricate plays. Melissa was taken by the sentinels, she's presumed dead.
Named Host because of the amount of Bees it can hold. Bees are named this way because of the buzzing sound they make when they fly.

Other: Theme song

Would being able to transform into a demonic form and have enhanced, but not super, strength speed and agility be a mutant or a legit demon? If the latter, would that be possible?

Shit, you guys are fast.

I'm still working on Bridget's picture.

And I'm considering doing separate pictures for her ragtag group of friends.

Man BG, got some nice stuff there.

Might join, not sure I could terribly keep up post-level wise. If I do, I'm thinking something not a mutant, probably more tech based. My first thoughts are a cyborg or more Iron-man-ish.

Imenak or Hana, or both, could you two help me make a CS? I've never been good with them.

Hmmm... so many things to say! I'll just go down my imaginary list.

@BG07: Unfortunately, I'm going to have to pick on you a bit. For one, your character shouldn't have been playing any sort of pivotal role during the war. He was relatively young and unknown during the start of war, so it is unlikely he would've stood out alongside more experienced characters with similar powers, like Domino or Longshot. Although you didn't state that he did, he also shouldn't have had official membership on any superhero teams either (more of a preference thing on my part, no storyline reasons). Additionally, mutants became practically pariahs. Heroes would have accepted them, but "ordinary" military and people would have treated him with disdain. Thus, it would've been remarkably unlikely, if not impossible, for him to have had any hand in the SENTINEL Project (which superheroes were not a part of). It's whole purpose was to hunt and kill his kind. Aside from those problems, everything else looks good. Mickey's powers and armament are perfectly fine though. I'll have to deprive you of Cap's shield though. Unfortunately, that particular artifact is reserved. If you're keen on some memorabilia though, he could always have one of the more destructible replicas, or that WWII shield he had.

@Dorian: Awesome. I was totally hoping someone would go for the route of getting captured. The way you had it happen to John also gave me a fantastic idea for a jumping off point. I'll discuss it with you in PMs. I'll also probably have Sanjit be a part of that resistance, firing him up with puns.

@Draken30000: That'd be fine. If it was a real demon, and not just a secondary form that happened to look like one, then he'd be a demon or a human who was bound to a demon. Otherwise, a mutant.

@Kerian: The power and history is fine, but some of your writing in the CS is poorly worded, structured or grammatically screwy. Which is strange, because you're writing's perfectly fine in the sample you provided. Anyway, I won't tell you if I'm accepting you or not. Acceptances and rejections will come at the end of this whole process, so I can see which characters will "work" with the story.

@MLS: There's a lot of good examples here, so I'd take a look at those to get a feel for how yours should look. Try that first, then I can help from there.

@Everyone: So like I mentioned to Kerian, acceptances for the new players will come at the end (before the IC goes up), so that I can pick and choose which characters I feel will fit best for the story. Returning players are automatically accepted, so you guys don't have to worry about anything. New players should also note that you better love to read. Nearly every player in the last X is notorious for writing so much text, a lesser person's head will explode.

Hmm, you can always add a character later. For now, just pick the one you think would be the most fun, or some other quality.

Edited the history, if it's still no good then I'll have to scrap pretty much the whole idea and go with a different route all together.

Also the loss of the shield kinda sucks... I wanted something durable that could be tossed around

You could always go with more Starktech. Or something like Gambit’s adamantium staff.

Hohoho~ I need to PM you, Twinther, for I think I have to discuss some things with you. I am not too sure whether I could bring Juliette back in or perhaps I could, but let me just get down to the PMs. Also? Awesome to see you back. <3

Hope to get myself back in, but yeah, going to need to kick my writing juice flowing and such.

Name: Drake Asoriel
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Appearance: Human Form - Drake stands at 5'10. He is lean with moderate muscularity, although his outward appearance belies his demonic strength. He has short black hair with bangs that can obscure his eyes if he lets them drop. His eyes are a dull green. His face more closely resembles a 17 or 18 year old, despite him being 20. He wears black pants with a belt and a black long sleeve shirt over which he wears a red short sleeve leather jacket. He wears black boots.

Demon Form - Akin to this minus the tail wings and grey hair crescent.

Personality: Before the rise of the sentinels, Drake was a lively, humorous individual. He disliked having to be serious and would often goof off to avoid work. He loved to relax and simply watch the sky. If that became boring, Drake would do his second favorite activity, which was to practice fighting. All his life he would enjoy fighting, it was fun to him. He had no trouble finding sparring partners, as his wise cracking would often invoke the wrath of those it was aimed at. He always won though, due to his demonic heritage. He would rarely taunt someone unprovoked, and would also come to the defense of those who had done nothing wrong. Despite this, he had few friends, and those considered themselves his "friend" tended not to hang around him. This did not bother Drake, for reasons he could never really understand. He just did not require the company of other people to be happy. He loved his parents and had great respect for them. Post sentinel uprising, Drake has not outwardly changed much. He still cracks jokes and taunts his foes, but now it is to cover his sadness and rage at the loss of his parents. He despise sentinels and is actively working to find a way to stop them. Drake's color will be this in human form and this in devil form.

History: Drake was born into a line of mixed demons and humans. His father was a full demon, while his mother was only half demon. This made Drake 3/4 demon and 1/4 human. The Asoriel family was devoted to the protection of human-kind. They were demons and half-demons who had forsaken their evil ways in favor of a more honorable path. Drake knew none of this, as it was tradition to only reveal the heritage when the child became of age. Drake and his family lived in a medium sized town near Boston. Drake basically lived the life of a normal human, completely oblivious to his heritage. Drake loved action of any kind. Real, fake, movies or actual fighting, Drake relished in it. His love for fighting was not of malicious origin, it was just his way of having fun. Growing up he got into any fights, both play and legitimate. As such he had few friends growing up. As stated, this did not bother him. He was content to hone his body and simply enjoy being alive. Drake's parents did their best to instill in him good manners and morals. Although they did not believe so, they managed to truly teach him right from wrong, and Drake developed a strong sense of justice. He still retained his cockiness and rather imperfect manners however. Drake followed the stories about mutants and heroes as avidly as any other person. He sympathized with the mutants, even attending a quickly subdued rally that supported mutants when he was just 12.

Drake was 14 when disaster struck. A sentinel rampaged through his town, capturing people and killing people who were mutants, all of which no one in the neighborhood had any idea they were as such. Drake ran outside when he heard the commotion. He watched a girl fling ice at the sentinel, only to have the robot crush the poor girl beneath its mammoth boot. Drake had seen the girl around, but had never known of her mutant abilities. He gazed at the behemoth in horror as it turned its sights on him. "Unknown life form identified. Threat confirmed. Eliminating life form." a mechanical voiced echoed from the giant robot. Drake stood, paralyzed with fear as the giant pointed a hand at him. There was a flash of light and Drake raised his arms, expecting the end. He felt an impact, but it did not fell like a blast. Someone or something had pushed him out of the way! He opened his eyes to see a menacing looking demon standing over him. Looking past the demon, Drake saw a bird-like demon flying around the head of the Sentinel, distracting it. Drake was still frozen with fear, but then the devil in front of him spoke. "Get ready to run Drake. I am not sure if your mother and I can beat this thing. If things go south, run as fast as you can and do not stop." the electrical being stated calmly in its demonic voice as it gazed up at the giant. "Dad?" Drake whispered. The demon only nodded. The Sentinel was swatting at Drake's mother (at least Drake assumed it was her) unsuccessfully. "Drake. Listen carefully." his father said. Drake snapped to attention, focusing on his father's words. "Our family is a sect of demons who have broken away from their evil ways. As far as I know, you are the only child of the next generation, though I have not heard from my brothers and sisters in some time. If you get the chance, seek them out. As for now, pay attention. A demon resides within you. In fact, the majority of your insides are of demonic origin." Drake's father chuckled. "I am sure you have noticed that your abilities are above all your classmates. Your love for combat, the natural repulsion human beings have towards you. Although it is rumored that a true and strong friendship can overcome this repulsion. So much left unknown. But look at me rambling while my wife fights. What kind of husband am I." Drake's father mused, turning to face Drake. A slight smile crept onto the demon's face. "Goodbye, son. You must live." With those words Drake's father leaped into the sky and flew at the Sentinel, launching blasts of electricity at the behemoth.

Drake sat on the gravel, stunned. His usual attitude was suppressed beneath his shock. He could only watch as his parents assaulted the giant robot that was terrorizing their home. Things actually seemed to be going well. Chunks of the Sentinel's armor were breaking off, exposing wiring and mechanical parts. It seemed that the demon duo were simply too fast for the sentinel and its attacks. Drake watched the robot destroy the homes of his neighbor's with blasts and stomps. Could his parents actually win this fight? Drake watched intently, unsure of what to do. Suddenly the sentinel swung its giant arm behind it and caught Drake's mother by surprise. Her feathered demonic form slammed into the ground. Drake and his father cried out simultaneously. The Sentinel raised its foot above his mother, clearly intending to stomp out her life. But Drake's father had other plans. A focused bolt of lightning fired from the proud demon warrior managed to stumble the mechanical monstrosity, giving Drake's mother enough time to crawl from the crater her impact had created and tentatively take to the sky. Drake's father flew to her. They shared a whispered conversation before turning to face the Sentinel. The Sentinel, by now, had gathered its bearings and was aiming its hands at the duo. The two demons looked back at their son. Somehow Drake knew what that look meant. "No....please no." he whispered. His parents faced the Sentinel once more. There seemed to be a slight shock-wave of energy, then the two demons flew straight at the robot. It fired its blasters, but the demonic couple maneuvered expertly around the attacks. The blasts impacted near Drake, sending him flying into a wall of a ruined house. He lay on the ground, watching. The two flew right at the behemoth's torso, where they gripped like their lives depended on it. Linking hands, the two started to glow. Drake's father a deep purple, his mother a brilliant white. The Sentinel brought its hands up to brush off the insects, but it was too late. The two demons exploded in hellfire of their respective colors. Drake had to shield his face from the blast. When he looked back all he could see was a giant smokescreen. Tears began to stream down his face. He knew his parents were gone, but at least they had taken that best with.......

The smoke cleared, and the Sentinel stood. Most of its armor was gone, and Drake could see something pulsing blue in its chest. "Damage.....Critical........Evacuating......Battlefield. the mechanical voice spoke once more. The giant turned and bent its knees slightly. Sparks licked from under its boots, but nothing seemed to happening. Meanwhile, Drake's sorrow was quickly being replaced by fury. His parents murderer was still active, and now had the gall to try and leave? He would have none of it. Drake pushed himself to his feet, new strength flowing through him, though he was still injured. He slowly stumbled towards the Sentinel. As he walked, he felt something building up inside him. A black and red aura began to emanate from his body. The feeling inside him suddenly exploded out and he was briefly engulfed in a red light. When the light faded, Drake stood transformed. A blue bladed katana was in his hand. "You're not going anywhere." he growled, his voice now having a demonic overlay to it. The Sentinel ignored him, still gazing skyward. Suddenly the sparks coming out of his feet ignited into flames, and the giant robot slowly began to take flight. "I said... Drake exclaimed as energy gathered along the katana. "You're not going anywhere!" he screamed slicing the katana through the air, sending a blade of energy at the robot's exposed torso. The slice soared through the air in a curved arc. It slammed into the pulsing blue core and continued through it to emerge out the back of the Sentinel's weakened back. The Sentinel paused in mid-air, then dropped the few feet it had risen, its thrusters shutting off. "Error.....Core Failure.....Condition Critical.....Shut down imminent...." the robot's voice reported as it began to fall, its eyes going dark. The behemoth crashed against the ground, never to rise again.

With a small puff of red and black smoke, Drake returned to his human form. He collapsed to the ground, sobbing. When his weeping subsided, he stood up. There was a new glint in his eye. His parents may have been avenged, but his revenge was not complete. He would not stop until every Sentinel was destroyed. But he knew he could not do this alone, and especially in his current condition. No, he would wait, wait until he had allies or was strong enough. For now, he had to survive to that point. In a world full of mutants, finding allies should not be hard. He needed refuge. The newly awakened demon walked away from the corpse of the robot, and the corpse of his home.

(I will put in where he went and how he got there when everyone has picked their starting location and I have decided where to put him, that is to say if I am accepted. It will also describe what he did in the six years.)

Powers: (Human Form)
- Enhanced (but not super) Strength, Speed and Reflexes.
- Hand Gun - Literally. Drake makes a gun out of his index and middle finger, and fires "bullets" made of hellfire. Slightly more powerful than regular bullets. Excessive use in human form will put a strain on Drake and eventually drain his life force.
- Energy Slice - Drake can focus energy along Kirin (his katana) and when he slices it launches a slash of energy through the air. Like with Hand Gun, excessive use in human form will put a strain on him and he will have to stop using the technique.
-Summon Kirin - A line of fire materializes near Drake which he can reach into and pull forth Kirin.
- Devil Trigger - Transforms into his Devil Form.

(Devil Form)
- Further enhanced Strength, Speed and Agility.
- Hellfire - In Devil form Drake can throw fireballs which are more powerful than the bullets from Hand Gun.
- Energy Slice - Same as above.
- Ballistic Storm - DF only, after a brief energy charge, Drake does a single energy slice, but instead of one slice a flurry of slices are launched instead. Used as a last ditch/desperation attack. Reverts Drake to human form when used.
