Waaaaaat. I thought one of the main points of the technology was that in multiplayer, people could have different information on their screens, so you could keep secrets for each other and stuff.

And now they're basically saying multiplayer on a single maschine, couch multiplayer, is only possible via controller work-arounds. Which is quite sad, even if I rarely do couch multiplayer these days. Still, it's an odd move, considering the Wii was also widely used as a "party" console. They're kinda giving this crowd the finger with this.

I guess my analysis over in the Snafu thread wasn't off either: The Wii U just might not have processing power enough to support more than one controller.

I dont think it has to do with processing power, as I dont think it would actually use that much, especially using a custom triple-core chipset. I think what they were trying to convey is that this is not a party game console. This is a console for YOU as a hardcore player. I think at most, they'll allow for 2 Upads to start with, but you know they could always throw in a patch at a later time that could upgrade that function to something higher. The whole console is still in way early development, but the fact that it can do what it does this early on basically shows plenty of promise. And the fact that it's not due to release for a year, means all those 3rd parties get that entire span of time with devkits to really be able to put the system to use on the first outing.

Then you're better off playing that with the Classic Controller, as I dont think anything with the Tablet will assist in that game outside activating certain abilities.

my money goes for Zelda skyward sword
and on the wii U theme it's IS a hardcore player console, but the best part with nintendo is the retro compatibility, now even with the wii-motes.

The wii is a casual platform, I have played a few wii games, but at the end of the week my shelves are primarily 360, DS and PS3 games. I think the last time I played my wii was 6 months ago. I have a few games I still want to play on it. And a few wii ware games, but the wii is simply the weakest of the systems and Nintendo has essentially licked their fat greasy fingers with their profits and raised the middle finger to everyone by not creating any real titles this year.

Not only that, they gave the finger to all the hardcore people by telling them "We have no plans to release Xenoblade and The Last Story in the US" when they're releasing them in EU. Those are the two biggest RPG hardcore titles for the Wii and they'll release them everywhere but here, and that actually infuriates me to no end. I really dont want to have to hack my Wii just to import both those games to play them in English.

On another note though, I do still play my Wii from time to time, between Monster Hunter 3 and a little of Ogre Battle/64 now and then. I still havent even finished beating SMG2.

The only game the I'm really waiting for right now is Mass Effect 3. Also a bit sad cause it is the end of commander shepard. I wonder what their next project will be after ME3 is done. Hmm. So far, Bioware has done a pretty good job developing awesome games. Dragon Age 2 wasn't so bad to honest. It just wasn't as epic as Origins.
