Howl's Moving Castle Author dies

Postby Wulfespinndel » Sat Mar 26, 2011 9:24 pm

It's rather unfortunate. But to think that Ghibli movie was actually based on her book....
Water does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is
not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end
can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that, my child.
Remember you are half water. If you can't go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does.
This too shall pass.

She was one of my favourite children's authors. I've read almost all of her books. I heard about her stopping her chemotherapy, so I was expecting this for a while. It's very sad to hear that she's passed on. A brilliant writer and an inspiration.
Rest in peace.

...I feel like rereading her books now. Especially Howl's moving castle, Hexwood and Chrestomanci.

I thought this was gonna be about Hayao Miyazaki. Incidentally, someone today mentioned this movie in a completely unrelated discussion.

Never read the book. Never liked the movie.

I don't like most of Ghibli's stuff. Good budget, but preachy and boring as fuck.

Also the anime is one of my favorites. I have sensory memories attached to it. Part of a fun night where they showed it at a theater in Denver.

Funny thing, I don't think I've seen howl's moving castle.
One time when I was high, I thought I was in an ambulance dying. Turns out I was just eating sherbert.

I totally have to read the books now.

Sorry if the link was a wiki, it was hard to find any articles at the time because it was too recent.

Amazon is good with books

The books in that series are:
-Howl's Moving Castle
-Castle In The Air
-The House of Many Ways

And I should really watch the movie sometime :x

Do it now, also treat yourself to a mohito before hand. It is not necessary, but it does make the movie more awesome.

Spirited Away has a similar feel to me, and is also awesome. Miyazaki is still alive, he only looks dead. The book author is the one that died.

It may surprise you that My Neighbor Totoro is the only Myazaki film I haven't seen.

No! She's one of my favorite authors! Damnit, now I'm so depressed! She was working on the sequel to House of Many Ways too, if I'm not mistaken.

I admit, I've only seen the movie, but I know that she was a brilliant author and I've been trying to rent the series in the library forever now. May she rest in peace.

So no more similar movies? What a shame, the movie was extremely good.

along with all the other recomendations, I would add Kiki's Delivering Service.
