Honestly, some parts of the episode, look like they could be used for a Slender man video entry.

There are some notable differences, but the similarities they do have are uncanny.

Actually Slenderman is said to have hands too.

But while Slenderman has the ability to screw up electrical appliances it can't shoot lightning from its fingers xD

Not to mention the aliens do sort of have a face. Or atleast they have eyes and a nose. (and sometimes a mouth)

I have a couple of theories as to why it turned out that way at the end. But when you listen to Amy's messages it becomes pretty obvious what happened.
