Starting tomorrow, this movie will start showing on demand in the states.

Hobo With a Shotgun

Chances are, it won't be a big hit. It is violent, it is foul, it is ridiculous.
But I can tell you right now it is going to become a cult classic.

The movie is a full length adaptation of an amateur-shot fake trailer that won the honour
of being shown during the 'intermission' between Planet Terror and Death-Proof back when
Grindhouse was release.

It was filmed in my city (Halifax, Nova Scotia) so everyone here obviously went to see it,
but international audiences probably won't know what they're missing.

Seriously, it will blow your mind.

IGN just posted a new trailer:

Well Machete was awesome. It was exactly as I expected Danny Trejo running around cutting people up with a machete, but what I didn't expect was an interesting political commentary on the state of illegal immigration in the United States mixed into the lots of people getting cut up.

So I'll watch hobo with a shotgun.

It's more than likely that most people won't know what to expect from this movie, so allow me to share one small detail.

At some point in this film, an armoured demon starts wrestling with giant squid tentacles in the background. No explaination is given, and none of the other characters find this alarming.

I hope this movie breaks into my top 10 movies made for less than 20 million dollars, although I am not holding it to that expectation,

In slightly related news. Anyone notice that since Jay and Silent Bob strike back, Kevin Smith has put on like 80 pounds?

The movie was made on a budget of 3,000,000, and currently has a 90% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
I'd love to see this become a sleeper hit, but I don't think it's likely.

Kevin Smith did that with a lot of movies. Clerks I/II, Chasing Amy, Dogma. Although dogma had a higher budget it is still a low budget movie.

The smaller the budget the better Smith's movies are.

To an extent. I am a pretty big fan of Kevin Smith and low budget movies in general, although I don't care how often he appears on Degrassi I'm not watching that shit. But Jersey Girl was mediocre and had one of the highest budgets. Cop out wasn't too bad, it made me laugh. It wasn't anything special, but same thing high budget. Dogma is my favorite of his movies. 10 mill on that budget and I still watch the shit out of it.
