I know right? And also, that guy in front of the spider: he's Melkor, the Chieftan of the Valar, the main gods under the Creator in the Tolkien universe. I think the shortest I've ever seen him is about 18 ft tall. So yeah, that spider is gigantic.

Well, technically, the story begins about 35,000 before the Lord of the Rings begins at Hobbiton and it ends roughly 6,000 years before it starts. This is because that Galadriel in born during the Silmarillion and during the Lord of the Rings she's over 8,000 years old.

Next is the Hobbit and then the Lord of the Rings after the Silmarillion ends. Anyway, we're getting off topic.
