I don't get why people hate Justin Bieber so much. Yeah his music isn't my type but as a person he hasn't really done anything hate worthy. He's just a kid with a goofy hair cut. People outside of the mainstream (i.e. us) always tend to hate the mainstream. Probably because being constantly exposed to something you don't care about, turns that indifference to hate. Before it was Bieber it was Twilight (well, still is), and if there's no major fad, we can always complain about pop music in general.

Justin Bieber, himself, is pretty much the personification of the current mainstream and pop. He's in the middle of his teens, in that Hannah Montana Disney age bracket that's all the rage at the moment (really, it's surprising he didn't start out in some stupid disney teen series). He sings mushy love songs designed specifically to make girls squeal, but of course have little musical depth or originality. He's got extremely boyish looks and the same hair that every single white male performer his age has (again, Disney, all the guys have hair to just above the eyes). And he's extremely popular, of course.

I generally try to be "eh, whatever" about such stuff, but frankly, with giant Bieber posters in toystores and Bieber lifestyle products and what have you, it gets a bit annoying, and a bit scary as well. And I'm betting it's not at all bad here in the frozen, northern Europe, compared to some places.

It's cause he's a faggot. And not the cool kind of faggot like Freddie Mercury, he's that annoying "a 13 year old girl could beat me up, and I'd cry into my pillow immediately after" kind of faggot.

The fact that his main appeal seems to be that he's marketed as a giant pansy, is what's infuriating people.

Also, as you said, he could've raised more money by selling other stuff, but of course they went with "Oh look, he's so popular people are willing to pay thousands just for his hair!". So it's less charity and more a publicity stunt.
