Romanadvoratrelundar – Some say Witchcraft, I say Time Lord Romana would have answered Isarabi’s question, if it hadn’t been for the shot to the face.
“ALERT MISTRESS ALERT-” However K9’s warning came too late. Romana cried out, clutching the side of her face which had been hit.
...That could have killed me, she realised, partly in shock. Her two hearts were hammering.
If I hadn’t turned my head...Quickly, judging by where she had been hit and the mark burnt into the ground, she made a note of the direction the shot had come from, before moving out of the way. She could feel the searing pain from the burn, but she chose to ignore it; she could worry about it later. What mattered now was staying alive.
She did catch Isarabi’s concern for her, though.
“And where exactly do you expect me to find this ‘cover’?” The time lady retorted back to the snake woman, in true Romana fashion.
“Apart from the exploding cars, of course!” - Yes, it was clear that Romana had no intention of letting one glancing shot get the better of her; she was made of stronger stuff than that.
“K9, can you track down the source of that attack?” the blonde-haired lady asked, as she ran. As she did so, a crackle of bright blue energy fizzled briefly around her for a second, as she activated her Time Ring. With apparently immaculate speed, she dodged any stray bullets headed her way, before returning to normal with another crackle of energy each time.
“Affirmative, Mistress. Target located,” spoke the electronic voice from Romana’s pocket, before reporting the exact co-ordinates of the sniper to her.
“I want you to keep an eye on it – tell me the moment anything changes. Keep an eye on its life signs as well.” Though Romana hoped Isarabi’s poison had done the trick, she wasn’t going to take any chances.
“Also,” she flipped her sonic croquet mallet back into its smaller pen shape, before reaching inside her pocket and handing it to her dog.
“I want you to locate Adrian. Program the sonic device to lock onto his life signature and amplify his energies.” There was a faint whirring noise, as K9 set to work.
“Processing...” Meanwhile, Romana kept on moving; if it turned out the sniper had survived Isarabi’s shot, then she could at least keep him busy. Crackling with the same blue energy as before, Romana darted from one location to the next at incredible speeds, trying to keep her movements as unpredictable as possible. Continuing to be on the lookout for any dangers headed her way.
“Programming complete,” the voice of K9 spoke from her pocket. Romana reached in, taking out the sonic mallet and returning it to its mallet form.
“I hope this helps you, Adrian,” she murmured, switching the device on. A strange high-pitched hum started to fill the air, although above the sounds of gunfire and fighting it was hardly noticeable. But perhaps Adrian would have felt some strange force boosting his powers...
{Romana’s telepathic extension, inside Jake’s mind}
“What?” she called back, having not quite caught what Vincent had said. But the door had already closed behind her.
Romana blinked, staring around at the vast whiteness. It seemed a lot nicer here.
“Reminds me of the default desktop theme of certain TT capsules...” she murmured to herself. She called out aloud:
“Jake?” It was then she noticed the singing. Slowly, she made her way over to where she thought it was coming from, a soft and curious frown on her face.
“...Hello?” the young time lady called out as she made her way closer.
