I guess compared to some people. It is perfectly fine with me if you see me that way. It also makes sense that you wouldn't try to hide the point you're trying to convey in a stack of pointy things, so I am agreeing with you there. I apologize for making your job harder, especially without particularly trying to do so. I guess a simpler way of saying what I was trying to say is "I like technology and science in stories, but I also like magic."

I am certain that everyone appreciates it when you bash 'em over the head with a good fight scene and quick exposition -- because they always talk about it afterward.

I'll give not overthinking a shot -- didn't think I was, but as you're not me you can certainly expose a different perspective about this sort of thing. Thanks.

i will always appreciate discussion, but try to centralize it. let themes that deviate do their deviation around the subject, with the impacts of characters and plot elements being directly affected. 8)

in this way you will rapidly come to conclusions about the way things work. i won't name any names in this post, but a few people have guessed quite accurately at what will come next a few times before pages have dropped, which is different from enjoying being surprised (if you will), but the thrill is different and still quite enjoyable. I mention this because: your theorizing tends to suggest you might be one of the people who enjoy this. :o

There are some developments I enjoy calling correctly, and some about which I like being surprised. The obvious ones make me shrug. The total twist developments are completely awesome in every way. If I manage to call those, then something is very wrong. A twist should not be predictable, so if I call it it's not a twist (apologies to M. Night Shamaylan).

For now, I await the resumption of Jack making the Cluster bots into julianed fries.

Maybe he's just sharing his computer with a sibling or something, who ended up being not so bright on netiquette? It's not too uncommon, but then again it's easy to dumb down your speech online to sound like someone else if you really try.
