I am a new member with a few questions about art and being a new member. I'm familiar with this site, but I've only just made an account. I am planning on making my own webcomic. First, let me introduce myself. Folks usually call me AC. I live over at deviantart most of the time, and I'm a college kid looking to become a professional comic artist. I'm planning on starting a webcomic to hopefully be published someday.
So here are my questions: Are the comics at the top the only comics here, or are they just the featured few? What do I have to do to get my comic on this site and featured like the others? If there's no way I can get my own comic up there, why not? How did these other folks manage to do it?
I didn't see any of this information in the Forum or in the FAQ. Did I just not look hard enough? Thank you for helping me out, fellas. (And sorry if this post is in the wrong place. I tried my best.)
I'm fairly sure the ones at the top is the complete list. If it isn't, the only one's are old and not updated. Most of them aren't, anyways.
Basically, getting one of your comics up there is up to dave, the site's owner and administrator. The best way is to contact him. Dunno what the exact criterias are, but he has to approve of it for it to go on the site. Do note thought that A LOT of people want to get their comics on the site, so it isn't easy to do so. Not impossible, just not easy. I'm guessing you have to show you're committed, at least. This stuff ought to be in a FAQ somewhere, considering how often the question is raised, but this is as good as any a place to do so.
I'm having trouble getting the rotate tool to work... The rotate tool where you can freely turn your page in angle without affecting the page. Arbitrary sucks for that. It needs OpenGL or something. I do not understand it...

Hello just thought I would say hi. I am pretty new here and just going around and getting to know the site so wanted to say hi. I do a comic on smackjeeves the link is in my banner sig. I will also start an art thread soon so check it out. I am shamelessly promoting myself since the rules said that was ok.
My pentel pocket brush has always been kind to me. But if you're into less varied lines there's always microns. Rapidographs are fun, but kind of expensive and take some time to get used to. And while I haven't personally tried them, winsor & newton series 7 no. 2 brushes are used by everyone from Brian Lee O'Malley of Scott Pilgrim fame, to a variety of Marvel comic artists, to many webcomic artists. But that one brush could cost as much as 35 dollars.

Stop bumping dead threads. And post your comic if you want critique. We'll tell you what you need to work on. To post your comic use image tags like so. [img]insert%20image%20url[/img] And read the forum rules before posting again.
This thread is made for the discussion of art techniques, materials or art in general. You are allowed to break into chat but try to stay on the topic of things art related. If you have any questions come here.
Mod Edit: It has since been decided to have these two topics merged together, to clear up extra threads that, while nice to have, are not all that completely necessary to make into separate threads.
Keep that in mind from this point forward, that the conversations are of two once-separate threads, one from "Jibba-Jabba" and the other from "The Art Discussion Thread." Hopefully this will clear up any confusion for anyone reading through this thread from this point onward (up until May 3, 2014).
